So here I was, snapping some random photos in class while waiting for something, when I took this beautiful shot of a very pretty classmate without her noticing. The result is a very casual shot of her with a warm smile on her face.

BUT, even though I have never said a word to her, now I feel morally obliged to let her know of this and offer to either email it over if she likes it or delete it if she doesn't.

Why does life put me in such situations? :P

She might find it awkward you snapped a shot of her without her knowledge, and become slightly uncomfortable thinking about how many more photos of her you might have taken of her without her knowledge, perhaps out of class?

It's a good idea, but in all honesty if she didn't know you were taking it, it may make her a little uncomfortable...

Well I am indeed partially afraid that she might suppose I have been taking photos of her since day one and I have some sort of shrine dedicated to her. And of course, panic, threaten me and then send the police. We've all seen that in countless films :P

Lol, why don't you just ask her can you picture her?

lol idk, just be upfront/honest should be ok.. but yeah it could be pretty bad if she overreacted like that, which i suppose is possible however unlikely.

The instant would be lost forever. Some things you can't ask permission for - you'd ruin the mood. At most, ask if the person is ok with it and offer to delete it if they're not.

Unfortunately we were busy with the day's assignments and she finished and left before I did, so I'll have to wait a week until I see her again.

On the flip side, it would also be somewhat awkward if she finds out you had the photograph all this time without her knowledge or consent, and in turn, it would probably be better to just ask and like you said, promise to delete it otherwise.

It'd be a week at most.

Overanalyzing every social situation is not viable in the long run. Just do it, she won't kill you :) In fact, use it as a conversation starter; make a friend.

depends on how well the person knows you. In the worst case, though, it could get pretty bad. Authorities may get involved. You'll be alienated faster than mark zuckerberg in that facebook movie. In the best case... well I'm not an optimistic person, so, tough luck.
