So, I finally got round to watching the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, episode 7.

I think I'm pretty much not going to watch the show anymore. Way too boring, way to predictable. Carl should've blown Shane's Brains out the moment he handed him the gun, and Rick... Blargh. Season 1 had its fault, but it was still enjoyable. Season 2 is a trainwreck by comparison. I've come to hate a fair number of the characters, and the way they gutted their personalities and derailed they're growth in service of some stereotypical bullshit is annoying as hell.

The only good part was the ending, which was a nice little twist. Otherwise, it thoroughly stank.

I dunno, I'm still of a mixed opinion. I think they've dumbed down the story a bit too much, even though I like the plot itself.
Spoilers inbound:

I don't think they ever should have shown Shane killing Otis. I think it would have been a far more interesting plot point if you only had Dale's accusations to go on and you were never sure if he actually did it or not. Keeps the viewer guessing and would certainly get the series a lot more discussion online as people debated whether or not he did it.

There're a few example of that throughout the series - where something would have been better left as something more subtle or hidden.

Gonna keep watching, but yeah, not 100% taken with it.

Yeah, I would've preferred that they kept Otis' death hidden. Shane suddenly reappearing without Otis back at the Farm would've made for a much more interesting story.

The development of the characters at the farm has been particularly good either. It seemed a little clunky at parts. Daryl's sudden change from group rogue to saint-determined-to-save-Sophia was clumsily handled. And many of the other character developments had little impact on the group as a whole, or even individually. Shane and Lori have another falling out? Surprise. Oh look, they even rehash the same bloody points they did back in season 1. And these are to name just a few.

The whole season, since they got to the Farm, has gone from good, to bad, to boring.

idk, i rather enjoy it, just as good or better than last season imo. you have to admit there are some awesome moments in the show, like finally finding sophia was just unbelievable; i never saw it coming.

If I remember correctly, Shane uses his last bullet to shoot Otis in the leg, immobilising him and making him easy prey for the walkers chasing them. So yes, he did kill him, and it was shown during their escape.
