Your entire life is going to be expectations, ups and downs. As my boss would say : "Some times when life sticks it up your ass all you can do is move your hips and enjoy it".

"Life is what happens to you while you're trying to make plans" or something like that.

Don't stress yourself, I had something similar happen to me. I worked a whole year and saved up a lot of money that was very useful later on. Then I started again and things went well. I can't complain, I made some good friends that I wouldn't have come across if I had done things on schedule.

dont worry about being behind, its time to learn that other people perception of you isnt actually important. Long as you have a plan to succeed there is no need to feel bad.

It's not their perception of me 2much, it's my view that I'm going to be a year behind everyone else. I don't really care what others think of me, but I certainly care if all of my mates are going to be doing something completely different to me; almost as if they're going to be in their own world and that I'd be excluded.

I'm not going to fail this time round, I don't want to drop out by any definition, but I just hate the prospect of being behind everyone

Can you take summer / winter courses to try to catch up?
