and never post an aim_, fy_, kz_, knife, killbox or any other gimmick maps. people here judge the map on how its MADE, not on how you play it. the gameplay is an important factor, but nobody can concentrate on gameplay if the walls, floors and ceilings look exactly the same.

you could just buy another stick of 256 if you get desperate. or buy a big stick of, say, 512 and replace your 256. but your right, 2 RAM sticks always have to be the same size, wieght, hair colour, blood type, religion...

in How do you give a grunt a crowbar? Post #78322
1. he meant "english" as in "not stupid chat room abbreviations".
2. hes a better speller than most people who speak english as their first language.
3. its impossible, you need to code it in, and you need to make a new model of the grunt using the crowbar, and some animations to go with it. if you want to code, then its going to take some time. C++ will take a few years, and it isnt going to be free (unless you want some really crap tutorials and compilers). doesnt seem to be any way around this. sorry mate.

find leaks without it. just load the pointfile into the editor. as long as you have 3.5, you can see the lines in the 3d view.

why are you using 3.5 for css maps? get the SDK already! its availible through steam, which shouldnt be a problem (unless you have a cracked version of cs:s, which i fail to see how would work online).

and if your wondering about the sky, skies are exactly like big rooms, only you texture the walls and cielings (or just cieling) with the SKY texture. whatever you do, do not create a hollowed box around the room (or map)!

carving is evil. jesus wasnt nailed to a cross, they used a nail brush and carved through his hands and the wood as he screamed (the part the bible doesnt tell you about) "OH GOD! THE AGONY! STOP IT! STOP THE FACE SPLITTING! MY DEATH ONLY CREATES UNECCASERY BRUSHES!"

in ps2 half life vs pc half life. Post #77056
never good on console? why dont you swing by any game selling shop, see if they have an xbox up for playing, give it a go (they always use halo) and then compare it to the pc version. the only thing the pc version has going for it is online play and the editor (so people can make mods that arent as god awful as the pc version).

and as for my opinion, the ps2 version is like crap, only it been covered in tinsel and diamonds, and other sparkly things.

in Ladders Post #76822
depends. half life, you just make a brush tied to the entity "func_ladder". half life 2, im not sure, but its probably the same.

btw, the func_ladder entity is invisible. make another solid brush behind it to give the ladder a physical form.

in WE WANT COMPET?T?ONS...!!! Post #76821
some very valid points there, kol.

since you dont seem to understand the system, heres the jist. the competitons get judged and released on this very webpage by our cherished moderators. the winner of the competition gets to choose the next compo, and a special guest seat on the judges panel. so when the next compo ends, we shall have our moderators and last compos winner judging it. and so on, and so forth...

now please, sit down and take the injection. think of it as a needle of love, injecting happiness(AHEManthraxAHEM) into your veins!

in CZ + HAMMER 4.0 + SETUP = ?? Post #76719
CZ is simple to map for. i'm sure you can take any BSP and throw it into the cz directory and it'll play. CZ was released WEHEY before half life 2, so it still uses 3.5. its exactly like mapping for counterstrike, except you set things up for the CZ directory.

256mb? its the recomended level, but you really should aim higher. ive got 1024mb (1gb) sitting in this old crate, and i find almost everything runs alot faster. however, i have noticed hammer 4 goes slow if your have a p2p program running at the same time. use something like winamp for music.

another problem behind this, is that there seems to be a campaign running to remove anonymous posting. the obvious solution to this is simple - dont. what we really need is a forum system which logs the posters IP and can be viewed by the moderators. if theres a continuing problem, they ban the IP and delete the member profile (if they have one).
