It's about time to change my avatar already, so we'll see. It might be an anrchy symbol (anarchy is freedom so it's also liberalism in a way).

I've been gone for a while, cause of computer problems, and apparently lot's of things changed here. The mst obvious thing is the host name. It took me about 15 minutes to realize the problem is not in my connection. The other thing, that might remain hidden for non-regulars is this "Proudly Liberal" stuff in some avatars. Is this some sort of a sect or something? Tell me, I might want to join!

I still play Heretic and Star Craft on it sometimes. It also has 56k dial up modem, wich is usefull in case of network failure.

in Romanian Joke (prepare to not laugh) Post #77557
I think these are called "stupidees" (closest translation I've got) and their point is that there absolutely no logical connection. Like "Two ravens are flying, one's brown and the other is at the left. What's the conclusion? - The wardrobe has no tickle." or "Two ravens are flying in a basement and are wondering wich terase to fly out from. The conclusion - the chimney is obstructed.". See? Absolutelly no logical connection.

PS: Why do you think romanian jokes are supposed to be not funny? Balkanian people just have very characterial sense of humour and their jokes are not always understandable to other nations.

Wired. I usually remember my dreams only if somebody gets killed or aliens attack the planet. Last might I dreamed I brought a handgun out of somewhere. Before that (a few night ago) I dreamed that the story of UFO:Aftermath was true! I was trying to reach a base with my brother with a car, but the biomass was blocking us and we had to walk and kill stuff along the way. It was very scary yet enjoyable. Like a game with matrix capabilities. I wonder when will these be created?

See, in my country things are a little diffirent about this legal stuff... It usually is like that:
1. Someone with fast internet connection downloads a completely ilegal (not barely legal) game or program or movie or whatever
2. Burn it to CD-s and give it to friends for free or sell it to some people (usually for about 2-3 euro)
3. They also give it to friends and if they've got a burner they also sell
4. The software gets its way to shared network
5. Everybody now has access to it for free

Cool, isn't it? And you never get to worry about authorities, because noone really gives a damn (unless you own a firm or something).

And, btw, I never said I watch porn, I just mentioned a few facts to prove my version.

Thanks for the help everyone!

in how big.. Post #75294
Exactly 16384 units in each dimension. This makes it 8 times the volume of a HL1 map. But mods can use difirent scalling. I.e. you can make 1unit to be equal 10centimeters, wich will make the side of a map about a mile long and that's a lot. Yet it's nothing, since some mods use scalling wich allows a map to be 50 square kilometers... (imagine the whole HL1 single player in one HL2 map)

in The glass is visible or invisible Post #75293
I'm pretty sure the tutorial explained these things deeply. I don't really get what you mean when saying either visible or invisible. Is it satying the same or changing as the map goes on?

Try this: If you haven't done it yet turn your glass brush into an entity (select then hit [Ctrl]+T). From the object properties (select then [Ctrl]+[Enter]) open the dropdown menu and select func_breakable. Then from the properties select Render Mode and set it to Texture. Select Render Value and enter some number (80 is perfect for glass) the higher the value, the more solid it'll look like. At zero it is invisible (but still blocks the player and can be broken) and at 255 it's opaque (solid).

Collect some money from the other moderators and buy a domain. Then you can get money from ads. Go visit some hacker communities and they'll give you links to firms who pay regardless of the visitor number. With the money you'll pay your domain taxes and might even get money for some better forum software. As your visitors increase your ads will be more expensive. Got it?

And to get more visitors build more than a forums page. Get an index with news and links to gallery, downloads, forums, contact, etc. And advertise at moddb as the people say.

Rad Brad, I used almost the same method. Here's what I did:
Downloaded and installed Symanec AntiVirus, downloaded latest definitions for Ad-aware, Symantec, AVP. Started the machine from Safe Mode and ran Ad-aware three times. After I got the same two dlls undeletable all the three times I went to Command Prompt and deleted them manually. Then (still Safe Mode) I ran the other two programs and set them for autoscnas. Unplugged the cable and started normally. After a few more buggers where captured (and brought up the number of total 90 - 70 for Ad-aware, 11 for AVP and 9 for Syamntec) it now seems like I can keep going without being afraid of my system crashing anymore. But the ZA package still refuses to work... Maybe I have to get one from my friends. And, btw, I installed Firefox the day after I started the topic.

dajuppi: Do you think I'm so stupid to go over and visit porn sites without having any protection? Also the fact I can get free porn from almost any of my friends and the fact I have a TV porn channel somehow excludes the possibility of me being the visitor.

jaardsi's proposition seems the best, but then I wouldn't be able to run Aftermath neither GC2 :-(

I downloaded Zone Alarm Pro from the official site but when I run it it says it couldn't find some DLL libraries in one of the temporal archives. I tried downloading one of the not so full packages and it gave the same error. What could be wrong?

I also scanned using Ad-aware and AVP (this unbrela thingy). They cleared some of them but the big fat bastard is stil present. BTW, how do I update Ad-aware definitions file? When I click on WebUpdate nothing happens (just the button sinking and then it's back). What's that SS&D thing (ZL, you always use such abreviations only you can read :-( for Christmass I'm gonna get a gun and shoot ya!)?

PS:Wow! System resources dropping below 30%... I'll have to turn off the machine after a while.

Hey guys, I'm having this problem:

Some stupid dudes (friends of my brother) entered porn sites while I was not at home and as it is usual for such places I've got a bunch of trojans and adware shit on my machine. I ran a few antivirus programs and I thought I got rid of the bastards but now it seems like I haven't. I'm encountering serious problems shutting down my computer (it starts checking the floppy and when it's over it's stuck right there and I have to restart it), banner ads keep comming out of nowhere (even when seemingly nothing is running) and they are usually regarding some security stuff (some sort of a trick I guess) and the system load is very high - even my trusted Aftermath started running slowly. The mofo seems to have messed with my browser since it indicates all pages as trusted sites (obviously to get my security lowered automatically so new baddies can have a clear entry). I checked the trusted sites list and it's empty. Someone please tell me how on Earth do I get rid of that son of a bitch? (preferably for free)

FPS - Shadow Warrior
RTS - Star Craft
TBS - UFO series (AKA X-Com)
Simulation - Outpost (err, not exactly a sum, but how would you call this colony builder?)
Sidescroller - LodeRunner

I think the lenght of all these FF games is what makes them look bad for the fans of other genres. And the number of the games too (twelve of them so far if I'm not worng).

Yes, but a simple prefab with no entities is much easier to be made. It doesn't require any complicated multi_managers and env_renders. I've spent years of 3D modeling and this map based stuff is just an easy task for me. You can't imagine what efforts I put into my hacker map with all these stuff (about 100 just for the computers).

I can only give my congratulations to the winner of this one (whoever he is). Due to some technical issues (traveling) I won't have access to my computer in the next 4 days (this reminds me I should onbtain a notebook soon).

I guess you guys have watched 'Pitch Black' starring Vin Diesel. Well, my idea was to recreate the intro scene, where the ship is struk by tiny bullet-like asteroids and start descending toward the planet. You wake up in the crio cells and go to the control room. From the pilot seat you watch trough the windshield how the ship crashes (mainly sprite based). So far I've only finished the crio cells and the control room. Detail is minimal (only some ambient, textures and lightning) and the crash scene will take ages to finish (more than 30mins and thats all I have before dinner and sleeptime).

There's a model called scigun, or something similar. You have to put them on seperate places then move them to the same location with two separete scripted sequences. Use the Model Viewer to find the apropriate animation for both models (I think the shotgun has idle, onguard and seeya sequences).

Use the repeatable flag or make some multimanager to repeat both animations(there should such a tutorial here or at the collective).

Well... It seems like no matter how many rules we elect there'll always be a way to avoid ccertain problems like the size. If you work miniaturized you can make a whole city in such a box. Or (as in my case) split it up in 3 rooms to reduce r_speeds and make it more complex. The question is do we need a room or just a map that big?

I'm getting annoying, am I? :)

PaLO, seems like you're not getting it right. 7th said no custom models, wich means we could use the stabdart ones. And 2000 is virtually the game-crashing limit (unless you've got a very stable system and some antifreeze programs).

Trapt, when you're not keen in mapping then I'll be happy to have you as a judge. And since no one else is willing I guess you are hired.

Room decoration? Sounds good. But if we four make someting there's noone to judge. 7th, would you be so good as to mail Andy or some other moderator asking for help with this one?

As we're going to start another competition then we have to pick the rules. Here I'm making a collection of all proposed and my own:

1. Room size is no more than 400 X 320 height is 256
2. Custom textures, sprites and sounds allowed
3. No models (we might have to talk about this one)
4. The room doesn't have to represent a box
5. No polylimit (except for the engine-crashing count)
