who around here does hunting? i know i do and its great! guns arnt the only thing ive hunted with knifes, sticks, stones, and cars And im only 14. if anyone thinks hunting is crule and wrong ive got plenty of proof its not. I just cant be bothered to say it all.

one training weekend with cadets i was sentrying the left hand side of a feild with 2 others, up the top of the feild in a separting hedgerow were 3 others, after sitting in silence for a little while i began to hear a very large rumble coming from up in the top feild followed by numerous very loud MOOO's, we looked in the direction to see 3 shadows chipping across the feild in the direction of our OP, seconds later a massive herd of cows on a rampage came crashing through the hedgerow and proceeded to stampeed towards our position, the OP crew from the top feild had been forced to jump a barb wire fence resulting in 2 of them being cut open, one on his inside leg quite high up (ouch) and the other took a gouge out of his arm the other was lucky and managed to clear the fence and roll towards where the rest of our section were bashered fast asleep, it was lucky that our OP was up a very step bank just up from the section OP, this meant that the crazed cows couldnt make it down to the postion, we were forced back half way down the bank while 3 cows sat there and guarded our position making evil noises at usand doing extremely long pisses where we had to lay, the section was woken up, and us being nutters decided we werent having none of it, unluckily we werent reciving our blanks for the sa80 rifles till the next day and had run out of thunderflashes in the daytime, being out of other choices i proceded to sharpen a stick and run at the cows to scare them away, it worked! but after a little while of chassing them i fell over a bramble layed out across the feild flat onto my face, ouch. The cows seeing this preceded to run back at me in a stampede and forced me to run back down the hill narrowly missing stampeding all over my head!! the moral...dont mess with cows!

dont get mad at people who hunt. They are probably the most civilized people alive. Where do you think beef comes from? Farmers who line hundreds of cows up and slaughter them in front of eachother. Damn I would definately want to be killed by a hunter and not a grinding machine. think of chickens who get their heads cut off, and other cruel ways for animals to die, and you realize that hunters are waaaay nicer and less crazed than a meat or poultry farmer.

very god point vox....Ive been to Tyson Meats, Ive seen what they do to the animals there...hunters are far more merciful....

Like I said earlier, I cannot see another use for the gun at all. Why not ban swords? Your chainsaw/car/knife example is useless: they're all used for other purposes and not solely as killing. The hundgun can ONLY be used to destory something! I mean, come on, would you use a gun to nail something to word? A gun to cut down branches and trees? A gun to chop a piece of meat?

Sorry, but NO ONE has given me a dignified reason why guns are needed apart from "to hunt", which, might I point out, is a form of killing! And don't say something pathetic like to liberate other countries or I will get very pissed off.

look man, Im not trying to start a fight, I bought my gun for one sole purpose...to kill somone who intends to harm someone I love....bottom line, I would rather have one and not need it, than need one and not have it. Actually, odin sounds like someone who might be trusted with a gun. but they are just so damned cool...I mean, the mechanical aspect of them is brilliant...forget for a moment that they can be used for harm, just remove that from your mind, and think about the mechanical aspect....amazing work, you load the first shot, then eash after it loads on its own due to recoil of the slide...the first helps the second to load itself....kinda like team work. First shot goes off, kicking the slide back from the force, removing the spent shell, forcing a new one in the breach to restart the process.....its really quite amazing....to me anyway.

Meh, there are a lot more inventions and creations in the world that utilise mechanics in far more interesting ways than a handgun.
