Anyone know the HL2 equivilent of a momentry_door i think it is, im trying to make a sound meter that takes the output from a env_microphone. anyone got a clue?

Oooh, tricky. A physics object would probably do the trick, unless you there's an OpenAmount trigger for func_doors, you could use that instead.
