Do you believe in them and have you ever seen/heard anything strange you couldn't explain?

I tend to believe that most ghost sightings may actually be a vision of an overlapping dimension.

There may be a chance that there are an infinite amount of dimensions, all with their own unique timescale. Sometimes it might be possible that a certain dimension overlaps our current dimension. Since most ghosts appear to look like they come from an early period in history, the time they are living suddenly manages to overlap the time we are living in.

Weird, I know, but bares a thought....

In a dark, dark town, in a dark, dark street, in the dark, dark house, down the dark, dark stairs, in the dark, dark cellar live the funnybones...and their dog, Rex..woof.

Jahzel, don't get me started on alternate realities, I'll be unable to shut up for ages.

It may also be possible that something similar to Jahzel's theory may happen, but with alternate realities in the same timezone...so things may happen at slightly different times due to different choices being made. This would allow for the more modern ghosts appearing, as well as the historic ones that Jahzel mentioned.

no... ghosts are a bunch of crap
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-08 18:31:07 UTC Post #102613
I'd be more inclined to Jahzel's view than anything religious.

No ghosts, gods, buddhas, or demons. The only realistic theory is aliens, because in a universe as large as ours, it's impossible for there to NOT be another world capable of supporting life.

So am I the only TWHLer that does believe? Or do you Saribous?
When I was younger... Say about 9 years old, I distinctly remember having the same dream four time on four nights in a row - it was of my grandad playing football with me and my dad laughing with joy at the side only it was all like sepia and slow motion. Then my dad stops laughing, and he crumples to his knees, crying, then i wake up.
On the fifth day, my grandad died.

How can i not believe?

And just for the record, im an alien hunter too... It is indeed impossible for no other planet in the infinate expanse of the universe to not support life. In face I think Douglas Adams was on to something.
Why should they be advanced forms of super-intellegent life?
I think they'd be a lot like us. Maybe evolved a bit... Growen a few extra arms but y'know..

I sort of believe in them.

Funny though cause Jahzels theory was used in a film called 'The Others'

My fahter once told me that before I was born, furniture used to float in the old house they lived in which is why they moved. Everytime we drive pass it he shivers.

One time when I was sitting in my room playing PS2, my mom comes in with the phone. It was my girlfriend at the time, so I talk to her and keep playing for about an hour, Not moving from the chair i'm sitting in.

Then when I'm done and tries to leave my room, I notice that the door is locked. First I though my mom was messing with me or something but then I noticed that it was locked from my side. And that door had a strange mecanism, it would always unlock itself and it was always VERY hard to lock. So how could it be locked when no one had touched it?

Also, one night I was home alone, my mom was out with some friends. I was sitting in my room mapping (of course) when I get that feeling like someone's watching you. You all know what that feels like.
So sitting by the computer, I had the windows behind me with long curtains (that reached the floor). After some time I was getting a tad nervous so I turned around swiftly. Suddenly the curtains moved liked there was a strong wind in the room, like someone had been standing there and then suddenly ran away or something.
This was no small movement I assure you.

I guess those scared my cause I could find no good explanation.

Btw:
Omg photoshop
That picture was taken in the 1920's, So I doubt P.S was involved

hmm...
There was no blood. He died of liver failure due to drinking... I think..

There was another experiance i had but it's nothing major. I was sitting in my room home-alone maybe 2 years ago and was happily reading 'Northern Lights' when there was a power cut. Now that;s always freaky except it was worse for me.
The line from the book reads 'Lyra shuddered at the thought of Lord Asriel being poisoned so she left the cupboard door open just a crack so she could see. However, just as the college master entered the room, a gust of wind blew the door shut and everything went dark'
It was at that exact point that the lights went out. Not creepy enough for ya? It was also Midnight 'on the dot'

Well, when I was a little lad at Primary school, I kept having the same daydreams, in actual fact I can tell you they were visions because my eyes were open yet all I could see was pitchblack, and an old women with rounded glasses smiling at me. I rember her distinctively. The trouble is, everytime I saw her in this vision, I'd get told off for day dreaming, so in the end I had to try and 'stop' seeing the vision. Quite recently, I explained this to my mom and she told me that my description of the woman is virtually identical to that of my late grandmother, who I have never seen before. I havent even seen a photo.
