You know these days I still play HL1 in single player mode, and it holds more surprises than I thought before. I never thought that HL's original mappers could make a mistake, but they did and I found it (I don't know if anyone else did too). At the start of 'Questionable Ethics' you can find first a fence with some electricity. You shoot something there, the door opens. There's another door right after this which is open. On the other side of the door (which you won't look at the first time) they forgot to 'fit' the texture. You may have to use the flashlight, it's a bit dark.

when did you discover that texture misalignment?
the game came out October the 31th 1998 and noone noticed. I've played the game several times, and yes, there are some tiny flaws, but nothing that really called my attention or made the game experience worse :zonked:

I noticed alot of flaws, and Highlander.. that would be one of them, but only after I started exploring the hl directory and moving things around.. so yep.

Every game has flaws. Its pretty much inevitable.

I heard the first Soul Calibur for Dreamcast was completely flawless and pixel perfect
Could that be true?

I've heard, from someone here, that there is actually a leak on one of the maps.

There's obviously not a leak in one of the maps, as they're all lit properly without FPS problems. What they noticed is a face being culled (who knows why) which leads to the void - It's in AM near the computer console unit if you go to the left once you start the chapter.

The train stopping in the beggining is sort of odd. It has happened to me once. I was jumping around all over the place within the train and after the next map loaded the train didn't continue on its course.

Yeah, but these small aesthetic flaws never interfere with the gameplay (unlike the multitude of gameplay bugs in Far Cry).

If you look closely enough in Ravenholm, you can spot many examples of overlapping textures (most commonly with static models/brush interface).

But again, it doesn't detract from the beauty of the game.

HL1 SP has soooooo many mis aligned textures if you noclip around. Also, i've found parts that has given me health charge without an actual health charger. I think it may be debug junk, or glitch... :zonked:

You don't have to Noclip.. The game is full of them, but the question you have to ask is:
"Did it lessen your enjoyment?"
No, of course it didn't.
So next time you build a level, build it for fun not precision... after all that is what this is all about.

Most of the flaws were discussed in '98 -'99 on the old HERC forums. None of this is new..
