I am sure none of you know me, as this is my first forum post...

My name is Dave, I map for Counter Strike, and am decent at it. I have made around 20 maps now and wish to make a site for my maps, but I cannot find a good freehost that will not have thousands of popups, redirects, or annoying little ads in every frickin frame. Basically, I am wondering if anyone knows of a good webhost that simply will have one little popup or something of that sort. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate a response.

I have already tried all the major webhosts (geocities, etc...)

Run a webserver from your PC. It's easeh, free, and your only real limit is your connection.

My 256k isnt the best speed for hosting :

256k upstream would be perfectly acceptable for serving two or three users simultaneously. Actual web content, though, would be noticably poor for 'downloading files' (sending binary data like music or programs).

This is what money is for. Just buy up some cheapo web hosting plan that comes with no ads, should get you started.

At least I have a name :P

Anyways, I took all those maps down...

Thanks for the link, Worldcraft Dude.

It doesn't say anything about bandwidth, how much bandwidth does xthost offer?

I would like to know also; if the transfer is over 10gb and it seems decent, I would rather use it than the one I picked from the link Worldcraft Dude gave me...

I would never use freewebs, geocities, or anything of that sort :D

hlgaming

Great hosting. Look, I'm in the 'Hosted: Editing/Mapping' section!

Just get an edge ID and email them: it's well worth the hassle. They won't reject you: They'll host anything to do with HL or HL2.

If you do want to host your own... Google up XAMPP from Apachefriends - very easy install / setup...

I use this one: http://www.1asphost.com/.. Well, my primary site is on my server, but I got an other site over at 1asphost..
As you can see on the name, you may use ASP. :)
100mb maximum.. Support for Access and MySQL!
Great host, with multi upload and,, I think,, FTP access! You can also upload zip-files and un extract them..
Very easy to use..

If you don't know ASP, I can say that it is very easy to learn!
One good place to learn is: w3schools

Enjoy.. :)

I decided to use a host called Frihost, they seem to be an excellent host. My site will be done in a week or so.
