The default XP firewall and Lavasoft's Ad-aware.
Using FireFox and not visiting strange sites is a good contribution to your computer's health. There might be some virus in my PC, but I havent noticed anything strange.

I have a strict iptables setup on my firewall (I got a dedicated hardened Gentoo box as a h/w firewall) with a very obscure and locked down network config in my kernel. I can use Win2k with no software firewall and very outofdate hotfixes with no problem 
But Win2k sucks, so I don't use it.

Anti-virus: avast! (freeware, not shareware, as incorrectly posted by rowley).
Software firewall: Sygate PF, which I only use for app. control. Its packet logging is alright, but not as useful as Sysinternals'.
Hardware firewall: NAT router. WLAN, but 63-rchar AES WPA PSK.
Registry: what?
Browser: Opera(s).
Spyware: Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D.
Processes: the supreme Process Explorer. Nothing beats it!
Startup: Starter.
All freeware. Get it all! Oh, plus I'm on XP Pro.
PS: m0p: there's an article on Sysinternals about running XP in 6MiB o' RAM, too.

I was checking out Process Explorer, then I started wondering "Why would anyone want to know all that information?"
I guess it could come in handy when you're getting attacked by spyware or a virus, but other than that, I am happily ignorant about all the processes and their innards.

i got pretty much nothing exept ADaware and Spybot S&D, im my own firewall and virus remover. ive even proven that to myself a few times, stoping even some of the fastest attacking viruses in there tracks.
