How often do you upgrade your PC? And how major are each upgrades? Mine are normaly very small, maybe a bit more ram etc. And I only upgrade very rarely  PC stuff is expensive here

Never.
Man, I'm getting tired of these "Say something useless about yourself" threads.

I recently "downgraded" to 512MB of RAM for overclocking. No performance hit at all so far.

I'm replacing most of my PC soon-ish, probably early next year. Minor-ish upgrades from time to time, but I think I've pushed this lot enough now.

I upgrade my computer whenever my wife gets frustrated with hers. I give her mine and get a new one! 'Bout every year and a half, though speeds and capabilities are leveling off so it may be a bit longer now

oh i can, usually their stuff is more advance. And don't be too surprised. 4 years ago i found a small camera thingy (like an eyetoy) on sale for ?3. Not bad at all...

Don't be too surprised by what you can find there.

Hey, when I got hl, i was running it on a 233 mhz p1 with about 48mb of ram and a 2mb video card. (I still have that computer!) but I bought a laptop, so I don't have to upgrade for a very long time. (I can't afford to anyway.) :(

You can upgrade lappy's. Lappy's are nice for lanning too

You can upgrade RAM, CPU, HDD, and recently GPU in a notebook. They are still very proprietry though. They need to standardize it somehow, I wouldn't mind building me own laptop if they standardized a motherboard form factor.

On my brothers lappy, when I lan against him, on heavy going games like BF Vietnam and things his often overheats and crashes. btw he upgraded his RAM a week ago

well i just upgraded from a Geforce FX5500 to a 6200OC, which with the nice double huge heatsink fanless VGA cooler(I bought a fan for it though) I overclocked a further 10%.

I also got a nice 500W X-connect, a uv lamp, and some noise dampeners

-Bought my computer in July 2002.
-Bought a CD-RW drive in September 2002
-Disconnected a very noisy fan and forgot about it.
-Bought a DVD-RW drive in December 2004
-Bought another HDD in January 2005

My next upgrade will probably be 512 more MB or ddr ram, maybe for Christmas. I think that's the only thing I could find useful. I wont have time for games, but autoCAD takes up too much memory.

AutoCAD takes up to much memory?

another thing i noticed with the upgrade on my computer, is the instant difference it made. even without changeing any graphics settings, HL2 looked better, which I can fully attribute to the jump from directX 8 to DirectX 9 hardware. there were so many things that i never had before.

Well, autoCAD itself might not use too much memory, but the files I work with are usually huge (Larkin Building, Roman Pantheon, etc) :(
