they do import, you honestly don't think they grow just about everything besides if you'd kept on eye on the news you'd know about this

...

What I meant was with money they could import food and aid. They certainly do not need fucking UN help. I think Sweden was gonna send aid stuff too... god damn government.
Posted 19 years ago2005-09-06 16:52:24 UTC Post #132826
I don't think the UN would need to help, there to busy with the east. Trust Bush to leave to this to a sorta 'last minute' situation...

Its shameful that we even asked for help. Whatever happened to that patriotic "We can do it" attitude? :(

Well, it is strange that the US would need help, but I think it's OK to ask for it when you've given aid to other countries in similar catastrophes. Still, not all of these countries have that kind of debt with the US, and these offers could be mainly a diplomatic courtesy. I honestly dont think that the Dominican Republic, El Salvador or Thailand (to name a few) are in a position to help the U.S in this kind of tragedy.
Bush said the other day (smiling broadly, btw) that they had enough resources to take care of Iraq and Katrina at the same time...

While I object to the Americanisation of Australia, I'd prefer not having the U.S. as an enemy. Despite their idiocy, the U.S. is still a major world power, which is a point that I think a couple of you are missing.

Trapt: Australia's relationship with the U.S. didn't exactly start with the Howard government: its been there for years (I'm talking since the time of WWII, and maybe even further back). Of course, all this crap about terrorists has got everyone paranoid again (T'was the old Commies in the Vietnam War - the war that was actually about Nationalism, not a Communist takeover, but that's another story) so the ties have strenghthened as a result. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd definately prefer to not have our P.M. kissing Bush's arse, but in this retarded day and age, he can't afford not to. Sad, isn't it?

American's forget what the Founding Fathers said about the Government. That it is never to be trusted.

"The power of the Federal Government is now greater than at any time, it'll never go back and the Posse Comitatus Act has been eroding ever since it was passed in 1878..." - Paul Craig Roberts, Former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Regan administration.
Posted 19 years ago2005-09-07 06:20:29 UTC Post #132900
Would have been more instructive, I think, if you'd told us what the Posse Comitatus Act is. Just my opinion.

It's just how they are: they have to butt into everything.

i wouldn't think Korea (north or south) would offer aid. I thought the U.S and S/N korea hated each other?

Thats another thing i hate about America, its annoying habit of it butting in on everything. They have to act like world police. I said once about this, and the only people that should be world police is the UN (which is every nation, not one)

does CCCP stand for Crappy Communists Comically Pathetic?

And thats an aweful alotta countries bowing down to America (for any reason)

CCCP doesn't say CCCP at all, in our alphabet it says "SSSR", which is the Syuv (union) Soviet-y Socialistic Republic.

Lubyanka, the headquarters of the NKVB(dont know the right combination) the russian communist Secret service, though its obvioulsy also tortured its own people. A competitor of the KGB and the GRU.

Compare it with the german gestapo.

Edit: here is some info on the building.

I guess having English as a foreign language does make a difference :).

The point is that that headline actually would be read by many as Bush: one of the worst disasters to hit the U.S. as opposed to what it meant, which was Bush: "one of the worst ~". Saying that Bush is the worst disaster, as opposed to appearing to be a quote.

Well, they'll try and get Arnold Schwarzenegger to run against her in 2008 -- if they amend the Constitution, and by God I hope not.

If that cracker asshole becomes president, Americans need to storm the Whitehouse! :o

Fortunately, Arnold's approval rating has gone down significantly. But just as Lord Bush's approval rating was at an all time low, it's probably increased since all those photo ops after the Katrina disaster. Lord Bush should be impeached! :furious:

Apart from that, it might be Guliani...

I think Hilary Clinton is a witch - as well as a bitch.
