I played up to the bit where your in some castle and you just found the Presidents daughter again. It was quite scary but the music was what made me jumpy. Perhaps the shotgun was my fav. because it could blast heads off revealing the leech inside :D

RE4 isn't scary at all.

No it's not, the only spooky game I've played is doom 3, and it was only spooky in the beginning.

As I've said a hundred times before in threads like these; there is a big difference between being afraid and being surprised.

the R.E series relies on the element of surprise. You jump when a zombie bursts through a window, but are you really afraid? I know i'm not..

But if I know that I will be suprised I sit and think: "ooooh, somethign will come out here and suprise me" and that gives a scary feeling.

Resident Evil - Code Veronica is hillarious!

The bad guy with the sniper rifle, the afwul cutscenes and the acting that is.. oh god it makes me want to shoot myself.

The thing that sticks in my mind the most is a cutscene right at the start, she's running her ass off through a corridoor that, ingame you saw was about 10 metres from one door to the other. in the cutscene, she's running for like 5 minutes being pelted at by a horribly rendered helicopter.

Agreed, code veronica was pretty ghey.. if you want a game to actually scare you, go with silent hill.. you will have the weirdest, scarriest dreams ever.. guaranteed.. ask Saribous to confirm this.

my favorite weapon in these games is definately the shotgun, if you have good timing.

another good thing about silent hill (especially 4) is that melee is actually effective! which is rare in the third person zombie strategy games.

Yea, I really never get scared at the movies or games at the actual time I play them, surprised, but never scared. It is after words, when you're sitting in a dark room, at night time, you start looking back, thinking of crap that could be behind you.....

sometimes in games the most scared you get is from expecting something to happen. The tension scared me when i first played doom3, then it got repetitive, RE4 was not scary but it was a good shooter, probably the only scary things were the regenerators, coz they look like giant evil mangled babies. Now playing FEAR, it is not scary and has got the worst character ever - a fat ass ( i mean massive ) who totally kills the mood, what are game designers thinking.

RE4 isn't that scary, one time though, when i was in the village with Ashley. With it all being foggy, dark and rather scary music that made me shiver...

But i love having the unlimited RPG :P

FEAR doesn't compare to Doom 3 in terms of gameplay, but graphically it is superior. FEAR is all about combat ( although the combat is fairly glitched ) Doom 3 is about being scared - there is a difference. RE4 is not shit, it is shit at scaring you perhaps but it is a good shooter. Silent Hill is slow but freaky, i mainly just get anoid with that game.

hell, all the silent hill games are freaky/scary. I recently got SH4 and was scaried to the brink of insanity. Wel not really, but you know what i mean...

Good games, all of them.
