Just got a new graphics card. A Nvidia GeForce 6200 (dont complain).

I did everything i was supposed to do but theres a problem. Whenever i try to play HL, it simply closes HL and thats that. When i play HL2, right before it gets to the menu, a blue screen comes up saying that Windows needed to be shut down, then it lists these weird numbers and says something about a nvidia dll.

Ive tryed everything and i cant get games to work. Please help :)

accually, you just need the NEW version. the one that came on the CD isn't updated.

I had the same problem with my 5500 and my new 6200(just like you)

Is the card first-hand? Have you installed your motherboard's graphics drivers?

TIPS: dont buy dell :P

um... have a look around on the MB and see for the name of the MB. then google it! you should be able to find lots of drivers, atleast for MSI and for ASUS boards

what did you do to fix it?

Started from scratch.

TOok out the card, uninstalled every driver, reinstalled card, installed drivers.

There's a possibility that the card is borked, you know. It's not uncommon. If you can, put the new card in a different (preferably non-Dell) machine and see if it works. If the errors are common, then the card is borked. If not, then your Dell is crap (sorry to say).
