Hey, you probably know of my problem with Hammer from the other thread, and I need help with something else.

Okey, I have re-installed Steam, the Sdk, and reset the game configurations for the SDK, and I have jsut run Hammer in an attempt to get it to work.

And basically it comes up with the error:

'The configuration information for the game you are trying to run is invalid or missing' and it says in the help files to run anyway and it will fix itself after running once.

So okey I run Hammer, and it comes up with the error:

Gameinfo.txt doesn't exist in C:Programfiles/Steam/steamapps/Accident123/half-life2/hl2

I press okey, and the box saying about configurations need to be set comes up, saying it is the first time it has been run, I go to do it and it is already fully set up, with all the info there etc.

So I click okey hoping i will get to map and then it goes into a cycle of gameinfo.text doesn't exist - game configurations over and over, and if i click the 'x' on the configuration window it exits hammer all together.

So.....anyone got any ideas, I have desperately been trying to get Hammer working for the past few days, trying forums, sdk help, steam powered forums, etc. and nothing so far. :

Easy Peezy, in windows search type gameinfo.txt and it'll come up with a load of text files, choose one that looks like it was made for hl2 aka direcotry is sdk/hl2 or something or hl2/Half life 2...

Anyway copy and paste in sourceSDK folder with the BIN folder inside and paste there inside it.

Only two files came up when I tried that, and neither had hl2 or anything like it in the directory.

Hmz well here is mine:

Okey, I managed to find the text file thing, and I placed it where Hammer said it didn't exist, and then I reloaded Hammer and it comes up with:

'Can't load FileSystemOpenDialog.dll'
Then I click okey and it crashes Hammer.

Hm have you got Hammer beta on? I heard it is broken until Valve fix it and only beta works...

The error you're talking about came out of the recent CS:S update, and has now been resolved. - Ant

Urm, how do I know if I have the beta on?

And if so, how do I take it off?

Try the following:

1. Right-click the SDK icon in the Steam menu and select Properties. From here: Local files > "Verify integrity of game cache..."

2. Load the SDK itself. Load the item "Refresh SDK Content" and wait for it to do so.

3. Load the item "Reset Game Configurations".

If that doesn't work, then I have no idea what you can do. Sorry.

Yeah if that doesn't work then in the Steam properties type -beta sdk" and it should work.

I Did what Ant said, nothing worked, so I uninstalled half-life 2 and steam, then reinstalled steam, then half-life 2, then the sdk, then did stuff, then ran the game, and now it works.

So I hopefully might be able to get out a compo map this time.
Although it's my first Source map so it will suck probs, but ahwell, a learning experience.

And thanks to Habboi and Ant greatly, even though you couldn't fix it at least you tried, "Its the thought that counts".

Bah by chance did you try my suggestion beofore uninstalling it?
I just wanted to see if I was right thats all.
