I'm looking for a 'free' program to convert an .avi movie to .mp4 but I can't seem to find one.
Does anyone know where perhaps?

If you have the appropriate codecs, the RAD Game Tools might well be able to help.

heh... sort of related, what format is the video (logo) clip that is on the menu screen. I tried making one with wmp encoder, buts its the wrong format.

Menu screen = WON HL? Should be an uncompressed AVI file. I'm assuming that the AVI format defined a standard raw data storage method.

But I did and google only displays programs with free trials and although it worked it only converts 5 minutes unless you pay but thanks anyway Seventh.

Well I sorted it out but thanks anyway, I um cough found a nice friendly program made for ipods that didn't cost me anything cough.
