Has anyone here built a Tesla Coil? If so what are the specs on it?

Mine is:
Primary coil 13 turns or copper tubing
Secoundary coil is 900 turns of magnet wire
the compacitor bank is made of 6 homemade beer bottle caps
and the spark gap is a vacumm moter cooler rotery gap

No. I haven't. The most I built when I was younger was a rubber band gun, which has a capability of blinding people at a large distance for some reason (a piece of wood with the belt from a washing machine stretched a lot btw). The only other monstrousity I ever made was a cannon from a pringles can fueled with lighter fluid.

I'd be interested to know if your contraption works, and if so, video/photo please!

Yah, I have done that same thing, the compaciter in the camera can rellay give you a jolt, the compacitors in the camera are also used in tasers and stun guns.

I built one, got plasma burned by it, smashed it up in anger, forgot the specs. they were simalar to your's though

that plasma burning was a funny but painful story, at least now it is. My science teacher bring his tesla coil from the 50's to school to show the class, it operated at 500K hertz, so the skin effect was high enough that it can't pass any deeper then the surface of your skin. he took a paper clip and had the short sparks comming to his hand.

when I built mine, I made sure it was in that frequency range, so I could do that. I got foot long sparks coming out of it and tried to have them come to me, minus the paper clip. hurt alot, and I don't sugust you try to do any self conducting yourself, ever. read the skin effect myth that wikipedia link talks about.

I will say it again, read the wiki part about the skin effect myth

but, if you want more information on the building of coils, here are a few places you should look at

Deep fried Neon

Java Script Tesla coil simulator

Did you stand on an isulatted pad when you drew that arcs to you?
Becuase if you dident then thats why you got zapped. When I draw arcs from mine I stand on a rubber matt. So it dosent flow through me. It just travels over you skin.

Camera flashes are fun.

Just don't touch capacitors in general =/ - They hurt.

Well, this one time i pulled a cord thing to a florrescent light, and the cord thing was metal, and i have a werid setup in my basement, so when i pulled it the cord was across an electrical socket with a active plug in it, so my left arm got shocked, and felt all tingly and weak for like 2 hours :<
