My friend who can't sign in has this problem:

Okey, it all started when i installed my new stuff after chirstmas X1800XL, 1gb ram, Creativ SB X-Fi Xtrememusic.

Then i read at the X1800Xl package that it needed 350w so i went to the shop and bought 600watt.

After I had installed and connected everything correctly and started the computer.

Everything started to spin but nothing happend...

Just 2 beeps came out from the mother board 1beep, 1beep, 20sec wait time, 1beep, 1beep 20sec wait time, I dont know how to solve this but can anyone help me? Even the screen does not start, i suspect motherboard failure or cpu failure.

Okay and he has tried using an old power supply as well which means it's something else. He say's the "screen is blank" but the monitor shows that its connected.

His also tried a different graphics card.

Check the memory's well-seated. Try taking it out and putting it back in again. Check the motherboard manual if you have it; if not, at least give us the name of the motherboard so we can look up the POST code.

He tried that and has no manual...

You are mixing RAM, that can't be good. The modules most likely use different IC's. Is the new gig of RAM 1x1GB or 2x512?

Try removing and replacing (putting back in, not returning to the shop) the memory sticks. I can't find POST codes for that motherboard anywhere. Surely it came with a manual?

He uses: 2x 256mb and 2x 512mbram and he commented that it has nothing to do with that...What do you think?

You can write D1826-g is also known as D1826

Get him to try removing them entirely and see if the POST beep code changes. Either way, then put one back in and see if it boots ? try each stick individually. A minute's work when you have the case open and are only booting to that point.

Sorry to say but he tried that also...Any other ideas...I am starting to really wonder whats causing it. Also should I just ask him to join

Ok it seems he got it wrong...It's 2-2-2 - that means it's something wrong with the memory.
