Hello everyone! :glad:

I just registered here though I have been making Half-Life maps before. I just rediscovered my hobby a few days ago and I thought this forum would be nice to hang around.

I was going to try out the TWHL server but since I haven't played Half-Life in a while I reinstalled the game and when I connect to the server (using "connect 84.244.130.45:27015") the game tells me I am using build 46 and the server build 47. I tried to update the game but it sais there are no later versions to get.

Did anyone of you have this problem and how did you solve it? I would prefer not having to buy another Half-Life CD (did that 2 times before already ).

Thank you for any comments and see you around!

Hi, Manko. Your avatar looks familiar... have you had other accounts?

You're not trying to play with WON HL, are you? The WON servers have been down for a year or so now ? you need Steam to play HL games online now.

Nope, never visited this forum until yesterday when I got captured by all the sample maps.

And yes, maybe that's what I was trying to do. I installed Steam now and realized I have registered my CD key already and forgot the login. >_<
So maybe buying a new copy again is the only choice for me. Too bad it's Sunday and stores are closed. :zonked:

Anyway, thanks for the reminder. I had forgot about Steam. Cheers!

Isn't there a "Forgot password" option? Oh well, sucks for you. Go to a games' store, open the box, copy the CD key, go home :).

The password recovery won't work as I don't remember any of the things required; mail adress or account name. So I guess I'll pay the store a visit. I will pay for the game though.

... thought this forum didn't support piracy?

only if its people asking for torrent links for cracked HL2 really.

And welcome, hope you find the huge amount of knowledge on this site useful. read a few tuts, look at some example maps, search the forums, post a question, etc...

ZombieLoffe: We'd both be quite pissed if we bought a game only to discover that the CD-key in the box already was in use by some moron who though it would be a good idea to steal the key rather than buying the game.

Too bad most (all?) shops have the game all wrapped up in plastic :/

I agree with thepreacher, it would suck if someone had stolen my key when I got home with a new game. Why steal the game when you can pay for it and actually feel that you payed for something good?

Another way of seeing it is that I actually will buy the game for the 3rd time... :( The $10 fee for resetting the CD key is a joke.

What? Stealing peoples' codes out of the boxes is much worse than just stealing the thing :|.

Or just do as one of my friend did he copyd my CD key and changed 2 numbers... Its esier then steeling the code...

If that works, I will do it. I don't consider that stealing with the fact that I did buy the game twice before in mind. :zonked:

but HL is what, $10 now? it may not be worth trying to cheat

I visited the game store today and to my big disappointment they said that Half-Life 1 is no more manufactured. I don't believe them but nether the less I will have to either unlock my code for $10 or find a online store and buy a copy. I'm starting to lean towards the unlocking option though it will take 2 weeks according to Steam.

Uh, wouldn't it be easier just to buy it on Steam?

Steam has the unique function to buy most any game valve has to offer over the net then spend 3 hours downloading it. I got HL2 that way.

Cool, is it cheaper than in stores? I mean, as you won't get any CD's or instruction booklets/boxes for it?

And do I have to buy CS, HLDM, DoD, etc. by themselves or can I pay for all at the same time?

After this question is answered you can close this thread. :) I need to check answers on the internet instead of wasting your time with easy questions.

you can pretty much pay for them at the same time, its a pretty painless process.

buy CD key from steam store, register CD key in steam, auto-download, auto-update, repeat for other games
