You all remember Y'ato's Past, right? Well, same rules, different Story.
For those of you who dont remember - One member writes a chapter, then states who will write the next one. If the next person doesn't reply within 2 days, a new person is selected. Remember to PM the person you choose

note - Please state your chapter number, but giving the chapter a title is optional.
Chapter 1 - Alarm

Captain Thompson sat alone at one of the metal, rusted tables of the platoon mess hall, a mug of disgustingly diluted coffee cooled in his left hand. The Aralonian war had ended only four hours earlier. Before, the fighting had been intense and Thompson was the only one of his regiment still alive. Sure, he was glad that the war was over, but more-so he was angry that it had begun in the first place. There hadn't been a war since 2008, and then out of nowhere, Aralone declared war on the New Republic - the largest world power - consisting of the UK, the Americas and Europe, now combined into one super-country.
They had expected the fighting to be easy, but it turned out the Aralonians had off-world help. Tanks beyond current Earth standard technologies had pillaged everything in their path until EMP grenades were made standard to every Regiment. Then it was just same-old trench warfare.
There were still a few terrorist groups left, determined on breaking the un-sturdy peace, and there were rumours that they were still in contact with the off-world civilization, but the world leaders just shrugged off the idea.
Thompson wasn't so sure... He had been part of the combat... He had seen the look in the enemie's eyes, and they didn't look angry or scared like most soldiers did in war... They looked blank as if they didn't know what was happenning.
Mind Control was dominating Thompson's train of thouhts when all of a sudden, the company alarm started screeching.
A shadow grew over Thompson's table. He looked up to see his colonal, a look of grim determination on his face.
"Captain, a group of activists have seized control of one of our chemical labs out in Zone 24. You'll be leading the team to take it back. Get going. Now."

*

Thompson approached the HI-37 Night Interceptor Helicopter. Only 4 hours since the war had ended - since he had come back from the front line - he was being whisked away to complete another miniature war of its own. He spat and boarded the chopper.

1337 story, Hunter. :glad:
Chapter 2 - The Mission

As the two helicopters took off, the usual gear-up and mission debriefing began. The mission was simple enough:

Alpha team was supposed to be inserted approx. 500 metres west of the lab and recon the target, their snipers were supposed to hold their positions, provide cover and clear the perimeter. Charlie team would have been inserted soutwest of the target and infiltrate the object. Infiltrate & Clear, a possibility of civilian hostages being taken.

Thompson was Charlies team leader, the others in his team were Barclay, Simmons and another two new guys, who he saw for the first time.
"Bastards sure picked the right time to take over a lab" - said Barclay. Thompson knew him for quite a long time. He was one of the few survivors in his squad during the war. He was a great fighter and managed to think clearly in the most dangerous situations. He had a family, that he hasn't seen for 4 years, because of the war.
"Fuck yea, like we weren't already tired of whooping Aralonians" - replied Simmons. They continued on speaking about the war for about fifteen minutes. The new guys were silent all the time and Thompson wasn't in the mood to start speaking about something he was so happy to end.

"30 minutes to the LZ" - reported the pilot.
They were supposed to be inserted in a small village, close to the lab.
Thompson didn't know much about Zone 24. All it said in the briefing was that it's an old chemicals research laboratory. He hated it that way. When you don't know, where and why you're going there. It used to make him nervous on his first missions, but soon he got used to making a 'Plan B', once he was inserted, if reconnaissance were to make a 'slight' mistake. And those mistakes weren't always slight. Once he lost more than half of his squad in the war, when he was supposed to take over a small town in Zone 41. It was supposed to have 'weak security', although it had two T-80s and snipers missles guarding it. They had to play hide and seek with the tanks and snipers for more than 4 hours, untill the backup came.

"10 minutes to the LZ" - said the pilot.
"Ok, boys, gear up!" - Shouted Thompson. They put on their Advanced Ballistic Helmets and picked up the DES-25 rifles and delayed fragmentation grenades, flashbangs, smokes, along with the new toys - EMP grenades.
"What's your name, son?" - Thompson asked one of the new guys, while loading his rifle.
"Hassmann, sir. Recruit of the 2nd Military Advanced Training Centre in Zone 8" - replied the troop in the normal solider manner.
"You?"
"Martin, sir. Recruit of the 2nd Advanced Military Training Centre in Zone 8. Me and Hassman were the best in our group, we were assigned to your squad right after recieving our diplomas, sir!'
"Fine, fine. So this is your first mission?"
"Yes, sir"
Thompson didn't reply and sat back. He didin't like two new guys in the lead assault squad, although he had no choice. There were more than 720 million casualties after the war and both of the countries were very weakened. He felt the vibration of the helicopter, as it started to land slowly, closer and closer to the ground. He overheard the radio, saying, that Alpha has landed.

"500 metres to the LZ, get ready for insertion"
Thompson looked through the window. They were supposed to land on an old wheat field, next to a few farmhouses.
"Ok - you all know the mission and codenames. Stick to my orders and we should pull this out before dark." - said Thompson and smiled for the first time after the war.
The helicopter slowed down near the wheat field and started landing slowly. Thompson took a deep breath as the helicopter reached the ground and ran out.
There we go. Next up - Madcow, of course. :)

Well, I can't write right now, as I'm a very hard working buzzy man, who almost has so little time that he hardly have enough time explaining that he doesn't have enough time..
So, maybe I could write after the next guy instead? :)

Chapter 2 - Continued.

It was a damn cold morning, as we fought to control our breathing. The everlasting beats of the heli's blades soon deminished.

My team and I sat like sitting ducks in the open field. As I examined my rifle I noticed once again how yellow my fingernails were from the quinine. I switched my safety off,
and acknowledged Barkleys hand movements. The two new men were behind me, awaiting my orders. God Damnit, I whispered to myself. The clearance and the briefing made me feel as if I were carrying the weight of the world. And now they have to send me out with two new maggots.
I signaled them to keep lookout, as Simmons, Barkley, and me rushed towards the abandoned barn. We had no idea what we were in for, so kept our guards up, but the amount of weapondry, and ammo givin' to us only gave us yet another bad feeling.

Back against the old wooden walls, I peered around the corner to see a deep tree line. 'Fuck' I hussed. If there was one thing I hated.. was walking miles through a forrest.
I signaled the rest of the men. They came running, only to through themselves against the wooden barn. I asked,
"You guys alright!?".
"Yes Sir" They replyed simultaneously.
"Whats your names?" I asked.
"Names Verret, Sir" one of them said, as the other remained silent.
"What about you boy?"
As the other stared me in the eye, he said, "Walker, Peter Walker."

Verret, was our eyes. He held a AS50 Semi-Automatic Rifle.. it's a very good weapon of choice, since it's very lightweight. But the way his hands shook gave me the hint that it would'nt matter. Walker on the other hand was a big rugged man, and carried a squad automatic weapon, also known as the SAW. Me and my boys kept ahold of our traditional weapons, are silenced M4's with a tactical scope.

Once we were sure that the canopy was cleared. We walked slowly out into the desired direction. The woods where infested with misquitos, damn blood thirsty beasts I thought. "We'll be there in roughly 2-3 hours" I announced, as we dissapeared into the thick of the woods.
Up next, The Elon Yariv!

Chapter 3 - The Forest

The woods were dark and no sound was heard within them, the trees hid the sun making it nearly pitch black. We couldn't risk using our flashlights so we staggered carefully trying to make out the pass ahead.
Everybody was silent and tense, ready for everything that may lay ahead.

Suddenly a scream echoed through the forest. A few shots were heard but then the death like silence returned. I wanted to call alpha team to find out of their location and state but we were ordered to keep radio silence.
I finally decided to ignore the incident that accured and continue to the labs as planned.

We didn't walk but a few hundred meters when a foul stench filled our noses. It was the smell of fresh blood. We unhesitantly followed the smell. Verret suddenly shreiked with horror, a horrifying site was reveled to our eyes - the source of the smell was a disemboweled, deheaded and skined body. The gun in it's hand was cut into half, on the rocks there were deep claw marks. For a few moments we started with horror at the body and wondered what could have don't such a thing and what was strong enough to leave these marks.

"I'm getting out of here!!" said Verret in horror and ran away before we could stop him.

Another scream was heard only this time much closer.

"Thats Verrets voice!" I cried.

Verret's body suddenly flew out of the darkness. The body hit the rocks behind us. His ribs where smashed to pieces, he died instantly from the brutal blow.

We then knew we were being watched, but by WHAT?

Since we were found already there was no point not to use our flashlights. We opened our flashlights just to get glimpse of the killer. It fleed so fast we couldn't make out what it was.

From then we continued toward our destination, each one to the back of the other, looking all around us, with the fingers on our trigger, ready to shoot everything in our sight. We couldn't see the thing that followed us but we knew it was there. The branch craking sounds, the low growls that were often heard.

The growling sounds grew louder and and more frequent. In a few moments we were sorrunded by many of those creatures. We couldn't see them but we knew it because of the sounds they made.

"Stand your ground, be on your guard, we are surronded." I quietly ordered the others.

They accepted and did as I ordered.

"Throw the flares, soilders!!" I ordered.

Just as we did it a shower of bright shots came from all sides.

"Hit the dirt!" I yelled.
The one that will continue from this point will be- Zombieloffe.

yea I know.. I built his character well, because he's a sniper out there for the first time.. so he was a bit shakin' up. So yep.. it's ok though, I'll have to reappear later on in the story.. somehow, in a gruesome way.. lol :D But you did good Elon, I tried building there characters since it did'nt talk much about them in the first of the chapter. This story is going to be wicked. :D

Chapter 4 - The encounter

It all happened so fast from that point.

As the men around him struggled to get their weapons ready, Thompson tried to make sense of what was happening. Machineguns in the dark woods surrounding the men were constantly hammering rounds upon rounds at them - Thompson wondered if anyone'd been hit yet, as he seemed to be in one piece... so far.

He had no idea who or what was firing at them, but it was definitely the time to act if they were to have any chance of making it out of the mess they were in. Thompson fired a grenade from the gun-mounted M203. The shell hit a tree a couple of metres from his position - the surrounding area lit up for a tenth of a second. Thompson would never forget the first time he laid eyes on them.

Clearly not human, the creatures stood on curved hind legs, their knees seemingly inverted. They were large, with skin as black as the woods stretched across their heavy bodies. Thompson couldn't make out what they were wearing, or with what they were firing at the team, but he vaguely recognized the sound coming from the guns. Long claws gripped the weapons they held.

One of the creatures had been wounded by the grenade, it tried to back away, but dropped down limp behind the trees.
The blast from the grenade had caused some confusion in the group of creatures surrounding the men - they roared, a sound louder than the gunfire, as they tried to make out what had happened.

Then, suddenly, a huge wall of fire exploded infront of the men, scorching some of the creatures. With loud screams, the creatures set off, away from the men, deeper into the woods, against the chemical plant...
The men tried to make out the source of the sudden blast.
  • "'Ello, lads. What the hell's going on here then?", said a man's voice, with a thick british accent. A cigarette stuck inbetween his lips, the man eyed the men from face to face. In his hands, he held an old flamethrower.
As the men got to their feet and began to gather around, looking for hostiles, Simmons carefully walked closer to the remaining creature, lying lifeless on the ground, not far from them.

Thompson approached the man.
  • "Who're you?", he asked, studying the man's face in the gloom of the flashlight.
  • "Just a simple hunter out for a walk", the man replied.

Next up, The Hunter (I guess).

Hope it wasn't too bad.

Chapter 5 - Friend Or Foe

A flash of red light scorched Thompson's vision for a second, a flare had been lit by one of his men. His eyesight returned after a small moment and he looked behind him to see Walker placing a flare down beside the fallen creature, which had been dragged in to the small clearing in which they stood. He turned around again to face the mysterious man and let out a yelp of disgust.
The man put back his head and laughed deeply. It was the strangest thing Thompson had ever seen. a man missing a significant portion of his face laughing. The flare light showed the man for what he really was. On the left side of his face, from the chin to about nose-level, there was just an abscense of flesh. A gaping hole showed right into his mouth.
"I see you noticed my little cut."
Thompson couldn't do anything but nod. He was almost in a state of shock. Finally, he brought himself together.
"What... The HELL did that to you?!" He stammerred.
"The same thing that got my scientist friend over there." The man gestured to the alien corpse.
"Scientist friend? What?" Thompson was feeling un-easy. In the war he had seen men's flesh burned right off with acid shells. He had seen men explode in a mass of blood and guts thanks to the expanding-nubbed bullets, but nothing was like the idea that was now dawning upon him.
"That... That thing was a scientist?" He murmered.
"Yes... Its rather sad, don't you agree?"
"Are you trying to tell me that all those creatures were scientists from the chemical lab?!" Thompson had found his voice again, and started to raise it.
"Oh no, no... That was the only former-scientist in that bunch of them. The rest were your friends who came through this way a few minutes before you did." The man showed no emotion.
Thompson collapsed to his knees. That was why he recognised the sounds of the guns. He tried to speak, only to find he had lost his voice again.
"What... What the HELL is doing this to them... to you?" He stutterred.
"You'll find out sooner or later. You might want to know that the lab is about 100 paces that way." He pointed into the trees.
Thompson turned to look for a mere second, and when he looked back, the man was gone.

"What are we gonna do?" Walker came up behind Thompson, startling him."
"We're gonna toast whichever fucker killed our friends."
