You're going to use HL2 models? or is that just part of the splash?

Same as ever. Invisible at brightness 0. Increse contrast.

Brightness & Contrast are on 100% for me, and I can barely make out the text on the left hand side.

You have a freakishly bright monitor, Unbreakable. You need to either crank it down, or design everything to look too bright at your end.

Nah I can see it pretty well...Although I think it is just a 'tad' too dark..Just increase brightness by 0.001 ;)

Can't see it it at all...
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-01 12:14:49 UTC Post #183144
wow, I really don't get it.. my monitor is set up perfectly for every one in my family.. it's a fairly expensive monitor, but I still don't know why you guys have such trouble seeing it..

So, I'm really not sure if I should continue this project or not, if all it will give me is complaints.

My Monitor is not freakishly bright.. damn I wish I had a camera.. : Searchs for his webcam.

continue project, but make things slightly brighter.. what's hard about that?
Not dramatically brighter, but a bit

well, 'a bit' is dramatically for these guys though. And if I dramatically enhance the brightness for those with dark monitors, then others such as Habboi will suffer tramendously. :

Heres two screenshots I took with my webcam.
Image will apear alot brighter, so I also took a picture to demonstrate this by taking a picture of my window:

and this is why dark maps will never work.

sparce bright lights make everyone happy.

im at brightness 80 and contrast 90. anything much lower and I can't see much of anything. I can see the maps fine though

Anyone ever notice that you dont quite get the bright to pitch black blindness that you do in real life, when playing games? Otherwise it'd work, but in general dark should only be in small portions.

Dark doesnt always = scary. I find changes in the pace of gameplay the scariest factor. Por Ejemplo if you just fought off half an army then end up in a sparcely inhabited place you get jumpy as hell since your kinda pumped already. (but dont throw in cheap shots!)

Unbreakable, it ain?t to dark! And don?t make it any brighter, its fine the way it is now, so make the map for those who can see it, and those who want to play a dark map, like me! i love dark maps. most of the guys here complaining about the darkness don?t even like dark maps. so make it for us, and yourself! BTW, looking mighty good!

After thinking over the brightness problem, I have made a final decision.
I will include 2bsps of each map. 1 bsp with regular lighting, and another bsp with adjusted lighting for people with darker monitors..
I think that will make everyone happy.

Creepy looking pic! And good choice with including 2 Bsp's. Can't wait to see how this turns out. :)

Thought so. Thats why the screenies you take seen very dark to others.Bring your contrast a bit down while taking screenshots and see if its possible to see it on the other monitors as well.

meh, I won't be bothered with that at the moment. I'm just going to do as was said a couple post ago.

BUMP

Well, I made a decision.

I decided to change this mod into a HL:DM map for MuzzleFlashes Server!

Edited lighting has made it brighter, and its unique layout should be fun.

It will be released in 2 Weeks, or earlier!

:D
