The age old debate, this forum is the final battlefield. Discuss. If you dare.

I say its a biscuit, just because its called a cake doesnt meant it is one. It doesnt coming in individual wrapping and is the same size as a typical biscuit, it also has the low density of biscuit.

A cake. It's soft, like a cake. Biscuits aren't soft unless they're stale.

"...the tribunal concluded thatm while the productr had some of the chracteristics of biscuits or confectionery, it had sufficent cake characteristics to be a cake."

i also believe that a jaffa cake has above 12% moisture, therefore by many companies certified it to be a cake.

but then ask yourself this question:

Is the orange bit in the middle jelly or jam?"

....the debate continues....

Im going to go out on a limb here, and call it a pie.

EDIT: on second though, from my research, and the user testimonials it looks like an eclair. which is basically a pie.. maybe. I don't know.. In closing..... Crazy Brits.

Posted 17 years ago2006-05-08 17:16:54 UTC Post #179110
We got Beef Jerky quite recently, I dont think us Brits liked it that much tho cause it hasnt been back on the shelves for a while now! I did like the stuff when we were over in the US, good stuff, that and the weather seem to be the only thing going for the place!

Dustbunny, dont you live in the US.. We most assuredly have beef jerky here! Usually "Pemican" brand, or "Oh Boy" Oberto. I live in the woods, and have made my own jerky before.. it is a lot harder than it seems... so.. I kinda want some Jaffa Cake too. I think I'll settle for A table Talk Pie

@ Hunter - Haha, good god, I highly doubt (and hope..) that it isn't treacle. That would just be revolting. ;D

Also I stand firmly on the side of it being a cake. It has cake in its name, it also it soft and spongey.

Agreed. You're the man.

ZL: imagine that, but with... stiff marmalade in. Rather like thick orange jam, or thin jelly.
