Kind of basic but anyway, Its my first. And I would advise you to have read most of the Geremy tibbles comics, before you read this one. But you don't have to.

Anyway hope you likes it (Which I know you won't).

Yes as I said before, to get the pirates thing, you would have had to have read most of Geremy Tibbles. Here: http://www.phwonline.com/index.php?p=12&s=8&c=86

Decently posed, I must say.

Yeah, well posed and the humour is typical to Geremy Tibbles (a good thing), but as Hunter said it should be layed out in one single, large image. Looking forward to the next one. :)

I would say put borders around each image. To separate each image from the one above and below.
Also speech bubbles need improving, not sure how...they just look very mspaint-ish. Perhaps borders around them? Different colour writing?
I do like the way you distinguished between the two people with the writing being solid for one, and hollow for the other.

Nice first comic overall, just needs touching up in places. :)

Ok, I'm sorry but ever time I try to resize it just screws up on me and the same thing happens when I try to put them all together , I will sort this out in the next comic, aa is on full, they are the PSP preset speech bubbles and The reason I use emoticons in the speech bubbles is because in the origional Geremy Tibbles Steinmann uses them, Its kind of hard to show a combines emotions anyway.

But anyway, Enjoy!

mmph..

again, decent posing - but the crappy speech bubbles and fonts really put me off... Its also to 'jumpy..'
Hard to understand what is going on.

how does it "screw up on you?"

Its really easy - you go
image/image size/400 x 300

then you calculate the width and height of all your frames put together
(e.g 800 x 1500pixels)

you then make a new picture with dimensions 800 x 1600 (leaving room for titles)

and then you copy and paste your images into it. Its THAT easy...

assuming you're using photoshop

Oh ok thanks, I try it out .

EDIT: I just noticed I made a spelling mistake :(
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-10 05:41:37 UTC Post #184502
I have no idea how anyone could fail to resize an image, except maybe if they didn't realise the effect of the "all layers" checkbox.

emotions in speech bubbles are a hard subject since lots of people like them but just as many dont
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-10 11:49:07 UTC Post #184538
I think, if it's your intention to make fun of '1337 speak', then emoticons/smileys in text-bubbles are fine, if it's a serious comic, obviously not.

Too big images. Look at how comics are made - they're small boxes centered around the important stuff in the scenes, not entire scenes.

And please, use proper spelling and grammar. It's not like you're in a rush while editing pictures.
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-10 12:54:16 UTC Post #184547
I just got PS, Still can't figure out how to make better speech bubbles.

And I think I did use proper grammar, apart from Geremy and that spelling mistake I made it looks fine.

easy speech bubbles (or maybe not easy, but how i do mine)

1. Use the elipse selection tool. Make a circle/oval the size you want your bubble to be by clicking and dragging the mouse. Release to get a dotted outline.

2. create a new layer

3. using the Straight-Line lasso tool, create a pointed triangle towards the speaker coming out of the speech bubble. (hold down shift to keep the circle selection too)

4. fill your speech bubble outline with white

5. choose a colour, then go to the edit menu, select "stroke" and choose 4 pixels. "outside" then press OK.

6. add relevant text

Ah ok thanks, 1 more question: How do I add more sets of text, and which format does it have to be in, I got some text from a site now I want to use it, but I can't find where it goes.

I got some text from a site now I want to use it, but I can't find where it goes.
that makes NO sense...

do you mean a custom font?

you put it in C:/windows/fonts

Posted 17 years ago2006-06-10 13:37:15 UTC Post #184565
Yes Custom font, I don't see how that doesn't make sense. Thanks Anyway :)
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-10 13:39:39 UTC Post #184566
text is words. Letters..

Font is something completely different.

If somebody told me they had got some text from a site, i would presume they had copied a sentance or two.

Oh ok I see

EDIT: PS is annoying me, each time I make an oval thing then goto the other thing, the oval is gone, I've tried to get it to stay but it won't.

EDIT EDIT: Worked it out.

Woot, I'm gonna make a tutorial, LOL.
Zomg, I made a tutorial, LOL.

That's how I make them, anyway.

Ok thanks ZL.

I'm re-doing all of them now, heres the first frame of the first comic tell me what you think:

EDIT: Now that I can do all the crap with the speech bubbles, I just need to do re-sizing, So I will work on that now.
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-11 11:15:59 UTC Post #184728
not bad, though it might be hard to tell the differences between whos speaking when u get to an image with huge amounts of text
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-11 11:57:42 UTC Post #184731
Ok this may be a stupid question, Its kind of late. How do I copy an Image so I can past it onto another?
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-11 17:03:42 UTC Post #184764
Err... either click+drag the layer in photoshop, or mark (selection tool) it and press Ctrl+C?

On the picture: Much improvement - one suggestion though... make "Thinking" bubbles "cloudy".

Maybe not as exaggerated as this, but you get the point. And make sure it's AntiAliased, unlike my image (Png-8 doesn't support alpha transparency).

I've re-sized and got this:

Still way too huge, each frame should be around 400x300 pixels if you want the comic to be 800 pixels wide, or 320x240 pixels if you want it to be 640 pixels wide (like mine and most other comics).

Still stupidly big. I mean, seriously, how obvious is it that 1600px is too wide to be acceptable, when you read Concerned?
