I hate it, but i have like 10 unfinished maps, they all would end up pretty good if i finished them. Just look at dm_orithia, i made that thread to light a fire under my ass so that i HAD to finish it, but no it's just been lyin around on my HD. so any tips on how to get yourself to finish a map? You to must get bored making maps, so how do you get over it and finish?

Sometimes, there is something you see (like a movie, a place you visit, another map you see in a videogame...) that makes you want to make a map. It's the spark that triggers your imagination and gets things moving.

While mapping, you might think that your map doesn't really look like what you had imagined, and it's usually frustrating. The interest in the theme of your map can also fade away as other things come to your attention.
My advice, if you are capable of doing a map, and you WANT to make that map, I suggest trying to revive the moment where that "spark" originated.

For example, I would just need to see a Star Trek movie to get me mapping on my minimod again. The last game I was playing was the original Tomb Raider, and consequently the map I'm working on takes place in ancient Egypt.

I'm in the same boat. I've easily got over half a dozen maps on the go, ~6 for CSS and 2 for Dystopia, and I haven't felt the urge to do any real work on most of them l8ly.

Although, to be fair, that's partly due to problems w/ Hammer and complications w/ my XSI models.

do what i did to help me finish my summer math assignment last year... buy a "Blimpie, Subway, Quiznos, etc." sub and let it sit in the fridge and force yourself to finish the map if you want to eat that sandwich... it definently worked for me

if all else fails just take a break from mapping and soon you will miss hammer

I think Tosse doesn't have lack of those "spark's" he just does the same thing i do. start a new map every time the spark hits

so i comed up with this wild solution try to find a way to mix all your unfinished maps and you could come up with an interesting mod ;)

A very, very interesting mod. Also possibly the crappiest mod ever, since most of those maps probably don't have anything to do with eachother.
