Well, that's just BS. System dumps usually mean that something's pretty fucked up, so it's highly unlikely that it's the mods.
Google and download a little utility called "Motherboard Monitor". This will give you a temperature readout of your CPU so you can ascertain if your computer is overheating. If it is, open it, clean out the dust and install a case fan.
If it's not the case, Google and download another utility called "Memtest". This runs a stringent test on your RAM during startup to see if there's anything wrong with it.
Last of all, get all these programs:
Ad-Aware
Spybot: Search & Destroy
ZoneAlarm
AVG
This is my ideal range of security and protection programs. All quality software. You should also run msconfig (go to Start > Run > msconfig > Startup tab) and see what programs are running during startup. Check if there's any weird entries (Google is your friend).
A good old fashioned format can also be good to fully flush out any bad files.
