Does anybody know where i can download a free compressing program taht zips files? preferably a link with no virii, worms, trojans or other computer ailments

Just use WinZip for zips and WinRar for rars. SRSLY how hard could it be?

I guess I wasn't really thinking about the speed of it, I just don't like having a new program for every task. WinRAR works with ZIP files, RAR files, and a ton of others, so I see little need to have both programs.

I prefer Winace. I don't know if it's better then winZIP and winRAR in compressing files but it can create and open so many kinds of archives, including .ace .rar .7zip and .zip

As for compressing, it's good, maybe very good. If you want it just to compress .rmf/.vmf .map and .bsp files then it's the best. It compresses a 10mb .rmf to an approximetly 0.5mb zip.

Why would anyone need a zip program when it's built-in for Windows XP?

I only have WinRAR because the archive format is not supported by Windows. There really isnt' any reason to get another program.

I admit that I normally use the built in Windows XP zip program for most of my zipping needs, as there isn't much need for another program if you're just unzipping stuff. However, if you zip stuff a lot, you'll probably want more options than WinXP has (actually, it doesn't have ANY.)

Ive grown quite fond of 7zip recently, but for most intents and purposes I use either inbuilt XP zip or Winzip. Winrar is a buggy pos.

As far as I know you can get away with just Winrar and 7zip... but not all three in one..

Windows comes with it's own integrated compression thing. it makes zip files
