Why arent they adding new weapons to HL2!? hey are making TONS of models and other crap for Episode 2 why not make a new gun? I THINK they wre going to have a sniper in HL2. Type in "box" in the model browser. YOu will see a model that says 'Items/ammo/box/sniperrounds" or something like that. And also flare rounds!? What happened!? And why is the crabsynth only in the game for like 2 seconds?! It has like 20 animations including like "attack" and "charge". Was it becuse of that guy stealing the Source code?!

Also the itchiosaur has TONS of animations and it only uses one of them and is only in the game for like 3 seconds! Seems like a waste.

There's plenty of unused stuff in the HL2 folders, ages old.

There was a pickaxe, an AK, an OICW, a few older enemies and loads more in the earliest versions of the game.

Same with HL1..
The Kingpin, Panther, Toad, etc.

I'm just happy, that they actually include the unused models/sounds/etc. They're really useful for mod developers.

Heh, did you know that there's a Stealth Bomber model hidden in the pak0.pak file? Really neat. Never used it though.

I don't even remember seeing the itchiosaur in HL2 >< I saw it in hammer and was like .. wtf is this and why didnt I ever fight it? lol

The icky shows up when you're teleported out of Kleiner's lab, it appears for a few seconds in the dark water. Creepy scene, mind you.

There's the Strider-buster in HL2: Ep1 but I'd love to see some new weaponry - Valve are really skimpy with new content.

The crab and mortar synths are functioning in Episode 2 I think. There is also that new mini-strider type thing(is that the strider-buster?). So there are additions besides engine updates.

According to a PC Gamer article about HL2:EP2, those "mini-striders" are called Hunters. And I believe the Strider-Buster is a new weapon to take down Striders that launches something that latches onto the Strider and leeches its energy...or something. It's functional in EP2.

The Strider buster is a ball you throw with the gravity gun that latches on the strider. You then take a gun and shoot it on the strider. Its not a gun (If anyone was insinunating that)

ya if u watch the gameplay trailers you'll see it and find they strayed far from when they said, "New weapon" and "Leaching Energy" which i recall both being said.

hopefully they'll put in a weapon with half the design of one of Preys (in terms of graphical design, not whatever it fires)

If Portal was sold separately (which it isn't), I would include the portal gun at the very end of Episode2 as a teaser.
But since both games come out at the sime time, it would be pointless.

it would be annoying as heck to get that gun at the end of the game, you'd spend forever playing around with it and never actually finish
