I didn't quite understand because of my none-l33t computer english.
But I think I've had a similar problem.

The root of the problem turned out to be the RAM-memory wich I had to change for an other.
After changing the memory everything worked fine.

If you have two computers, try taking the RAM from the second computer to the one wich has the problem and see if it still occours.

Ah, looky: oom oom.
The computer restarted itself once every day or something.
And eventualy the computer didn't even start.
All because of RAM.

If, as you say on TSG, it's now dying every five seconds, you're not going to be able to run a memory test.

What kind of thermal interface material are you using between the CPU and the heatsink? Is it a pad that was stuck on, or the usual tube-goo compound?

I certainly hope it's not the RAM, it's brand new and cost me about $400. I cannot test other RAM as the only other type i have is DDR and my PC needs DDR2.

I've only had the case for about 2 weeks now, there's no chance they're dusty.

A pad that was already on the heatsink.

I'm very annoyed that my PC worked perfectly fine one day, and after no change seems to be on death's door. I don't see anything that could of happened, and i definately can't see how it can be overheating in just mere seconds. Something else i'm guessing the power is probably playing up.

As it is now, when i boot it up, everything begins to start up, the fans start spinning, the led's come on.. then boom. It's off, it restarts.. boom it's off again, and so on.

Run Memtest and other diagnostic tools. This is extremely useful. I'm not sure exactly how far you get before the comp restarts (techguy.org isn't loading, info plz) but if you can boot a cd, run this. It'll help.

No not yet, i don't think it's got anything to even do with the BIOS, people over at Tech Support Guy seem to think its either a memory or PSU fault. If i have to, i will though.

It's an Antec TruePower Trio 650w, brand new.

I'm afraid running any sort of test is impossible at the moment. It's shutting off and rebooting about 3-5 seconds after every startup. It doesn't even get far enough to bring up anything on screen.

I am going to try removing/swapping the RAM and trying using an older PSU this afternoon after work, see if i can root out the problem.

If you get to swapping the PSU, make sure its gonna have enough power for all of your components, so that you know for sure.

Just don't fry a PSU, it can cause some srsly dmgz!!!

Just replace everything part by part and see what works.

I have an old 550w one i can swap, should be ok for now.
Just replace everything part by part and see what works.
I'll just pull the money out of my arse to do that.

Don't just look at the watts, look at the amps and whatnot. Make sure it complies with everything you have.

If its a nice power supply, something that costs more than 30 dollars, than you shouldn't, USUALLY, have to worry about it.

The 650w one i bought for my new PC cost me a fair whack. It's very annoying to think it's screwed already.

But.. we'll see how things go tonight.

It happens. You cant trust everything you buy is gonna work.

Hopefully you have some sort of return policy for the failed component(s).
