Ok, how about another minicompo?
I was thinking about those iconic vending machines that you'll find everywhere in Black Mesa. Create a map where vending machines play the key role.

Extra chance of winning when your map has:

• funnyness potential.
• originality.
• interaction with other characters, events etc.

Deadline: september 29th.
Custom vending machine textures are allowed.

Sounds kinda weird. At first I was expecting another prefab compo, but at least its different this time around.
I've definitely got a good idea, but not sure if I'll be ableto pull it off quick enough or successfully. I'm in... maybe.

Muzzleflash: Use a deadline. Ending it when only a few people have submitted theirs is kind of unfair on the slower people, i've always thought. 3 weeks seems pretty fair.

I kind of agree. I would say that as long as Vending Machines play the key role, then it's worthy of submission, but it's up to MuzzleFlash.

Well i was talking about those vending machines from Black Mesa, the red and the... green/yellow one.

But i guess, size limit is indeed kinda resticting, so you may use any size as long as you don't make a vending machine that is 4 units high and 1536 units width, or anything like that.

Guys i'm going to have to withdraw until further notice.. I'll let you know why in a few days maybe even a week...

If you are going to lose your computer by that time, how are you going to tell us why you lost it?

Here's my schedule as of right now

Wake up, shower, eat, go to school, come home, do homework, work, come home, sleep.


and it's gonna be that way for about 3 weeks until my training is complete, or the other (and hopefully higherpaying) job gives me a call.

My brother moved out of my house recently and into his own house rented with his friends. His room does not have space enough for a desk so he cannot use his desktop computer, and him being 21 is going to have many-a-party and does not want to leave his computer in a public area. He has before and death pursued so he learned his lesson.

So him and i are trading systems, and the time spent not working, attending classes, or doing homework or other activities (guitar, chores gigging etc etc) I will be transferring files from computer to computer, organizing them, cleaning out my brothers nasty malware so his comp may be useful.

All it needs is another 1.5gig of ram (1gig for now) and it will be more powerful than my current system.

I'm losing the following items from a convenience standpoint:
Media player controller on front of computer, headphone/ microphone jack under said media controller, mulit-card media card reader slot (located under my dvd-rw drive), and Windows vista.

Yes, i'm going to miss vista.
Sorry for not giving reason before, i was aggravated at my firewall for not allowing direct connect to computer for file sharing.

I need to go and fetch an External HDD, which i have been meaning to buy for some months now.

Who else is still in this? I am, but I don't want to be the only one doing it.

It's a very different kind of map, though I'm afraid it might actually be too big for a mini compo.

I had a good one, but I saw that noone else did anything so I kept it to myself. I'll recycle it if something interesting starts.

Actually, I've started on something a while ago, though stopped working on it. Same reason as WC. :>

As if being a good mapper is such an amazing accomplishment anyway; I'm pretty sure 99% of the people I know don't even know what mapping is, lol.

When you try to explain it to them, they still don't understand what it is, and they always ask if you can make money at it! = )

Back on topic, I might join but I'm focusing on the layout compo.
