))))))))))))) I'm so happy because here in Spain we celebrate "The 3 wise man" day instead of Santa Claus, and it's on 6 of January. So my parents decided today that they are going to buy me a new PC and I want to choose a powerful one. I want it to run Unreal Tournament 3 at high FPS (for example).

So wich parts of the computer do u recommend me? Processor, video card, and all the stuff. (Oh... We are not rich so don't tell me a computer that costs 3000 ? ??)

Thnx!

I bought a FZ190 from Sony Style CTO (Customized to Order) for $1500. It had a bit of a hiccup when the harddrive somehow got corrupted and i was forced to spend 5 weeks in computer labs (its only repaired in the country where you bought it, which i want in for 5 weeks - but when i was back in the US the repair was super fast) but other than that performance is fantastic and it can run bioshock without problems.

i wont list up what i got but im saying for $1500 you can get a good laptop from sony...

These threads annoy me...

...But oh well.

Do you want a desktop or laptop. Say desktop or else.

You want a minimum of two cores, a minimum or 2GB Ram, a minimum of 200GB HD space, and a minimum of a 8800gt(s) or equivalent to be able to play the games you want to play.

Also, what resolution are you going to be running at?

Finally, have you considered building it yourself? Much more satisfying if you're able.

I want a desktop. I've seen a builded one that haves:
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 4 x 2.4 GHz, 64 bits.
-Vista Home Premium ( :zonked: )
-2 GB RAM
-500 GB hard disc S-ATA
-xipset Nvidia GeForce 7050 ( :zonked: )
-DVD
-Memory Card reader
-Keyboard + mouse

650 ? without the monitor. I think is a very good PC, the only think I don't like is the xipset because I think it eats the RAM so I would change it to a video card. What do you think about that?

I would recommend that whatever you purchase, you build yourself; it's easy to learn about if you don't already know how, and you'll save a lot of money that as well. I built a pretty decent rig about a year ago for $1300 USD which is on-par (and mostly better) than most pre-built PCs, and it's about a thousand bucks cheaper, too.

I've gone for a pre-builded PC, it's cheaper than buy it in pieces because I should have had to pay the Windows and all the stuff.

-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 4 x 2.4 GHz, 64 bits.
-Vista Home Premium
-2 GB RAM
-500 GB hard disc S-ATA
-xipset Nvidia GeForce 7050

So that's my final PC. TheI'm going to buy a graphics card now because I hate the xipset, I'll go for a Nvidia 8800 GT.

Where are you buying this pre-built PC from, and how much is it going to cost you? Because in a few minutes I configured a setup with those exact specifications on Newegg, and it came to $1275, Vista Home Premium included. And I wasn't even skimping on things like the case, power supply, or DVD burner. Now, I realize you don't live in the U.S., so Newegg wouldn't be an option for you, but I'm guessing you could still configure one for around the same price in Spain.

I recommend an ATI X1950 Pro over the alternative Nvidia 8800 series. Much cheaper for near to same performance.

It's not a good idea if he wants DirectX 10. Also, it's not nearly the same performance, 8800GT is like an 8800GTX except way cheaper. :

Prebuilt is bad. It often includes software you won't need, such as expensive antivirus , firewalls and Windows

Don't you already have an XP cd lying around, or do you know someone who does?

The problem is that I don't have 1300 $, and my parents are not going to pay that much for the computer, I've had to pay a part of the PC so... well I think is a nice PC, not the best one at the momment but still good (my old one was not able to run something up to HL).

My parents prefered a pre-builded one because the total warranty of 3 years. So well, If I need to upgrade the computer in the future I just have to go to the shop. Well I already done it with the graphics card.

As opposed to just upgrading it yourself, which is easier and not as time-consuming? I don't understand...

Anyway, you never answered, how much will you be paying for the pre-built one? I just don't see how anything with the same parts as the ones you listed will go for anything less than 1500 if you're buying it from some common computer manufacturer.

I think you've made a great choice here - especially with the GFX card - the 7050 chipset is dire! BTW, if possible, try and get the G0 stepping for the CPU, they run much cooler and can overclock more - if you're interested in that. Worth spending a little more if you are.

Other than that, if you're dead set against building your own, that sounds great, 500GB is plenty, and 2GB is great. Good luck with it!
