Hello,

I am going to make a mod called Real Life: Source.

But, i need a few Experianced modelers, and coders.

The features:

Pets
Coins
Vehicles
Houses
Shops
Jobs
Police

I know this will be a BIG job, but it wont be done all at once.

Firstly, we are going to make it simple, Houses, jobs, shops, and police.

And then each month there will be an update with a new feature, for example Pets.

I know this will be a big job, but i think if we pick the correct people this can be a real good mod.

The mod will be based on 1 REALLY BIG map, this will include, banks, shops, police station, houses, flats, and much more.

The coders and the modellers, will have alot to do, and they need to take the pressure, and work under deadlines.

Second Life, not really, more like Gmod RP, but better, and it will be multiplayer.

I'll be honest and say that I can't really see this working in Source.
The idea is great, but source is source.

But I've been wrong before.

Right, i have gone away from Real Life: Source, it wont work well enough, and its to big a project.

I have come up with another better simple mod.

Name : ????

The mod will be 2d, and Multiplayer and in source, CTF based, but with loads of differant modes.

So we need a few moddelers and a few coders, and a few mappers.

I just need to know how to get HL2, into 2d, like Codeman: Gordon, or whatever that game was.

Dude, why would you want to turn Source in to 2D?
You might aswell make a new spritebased 2D-game from scratch.
Source is not the engine for the job.

Gmod RP does the job, and Flat-Life does the 2D just fine.

Well you would need it to attract people to join...People don't join out of kindness. :D

If you are going for 2D why not just make your own 2D game using Director MX 2004 D:

OR just make a map or two with a story for Gmod 2D D:

Well you got to ask yourself a few things...What skills do you have? Can you map that well? Model? Code? Generally if you can't code or model but map then perhaps make a small SP mod for now.

Then when you are confident with a mod idea go for it. However don't go over the top :D But you wont attract anyone unless you show them media to let them know you are serious and able to contribute.

Personally just stick to making FPS mods aka a HL related mod and if you are good enough perhaps join another mod with a unique idea rather than make a new one which wont be finished.

By the way use the edit button rather than double post. It's under your name but only for the LAST post you made.

And if you want over the top mod? I once tried to make a Shadow of the Colossus based mod o_0

I can map, i mapped a few maps. XD

I might make a SP mod for now called Dead End.

Zombie mod, Gman has taken the city and he has zombified all the people.

You will have to reverse the Pryraith (Zombie machine)

I am going to base it around that

Personally, I think it's pretty hard just taking someone's idea and starting a mod based on it. You'd be much better off thinking of something original yourself and giving it a shot. ;)

Wow that IS expensive :D

Well my advice to you is write a small game document with the story and just a brainstorm of ideas. When I go out to uni (1 hour and 30 mins trip) I take a special notepad where I jot down ideas and dialogue for my mod. Really helps just 'dumping' all the shit onto paper so you forget about it XD

I have a brilliant mod idea, and it will be a VERY funny mod.

Name: The Milk

Single Player, you are a normal guy and you go to the store, beacause you have ran out of milk, but is this just a simple trip for some milk?

I will need a modeller, and a coder, add Adowson9 for info, and the storyline.

[Edit] I need some help with the single player, i cant change my weapons, and i have a few more problems, i would love it if you added Adowson9 to help me.

Flat-Life does the 2D just fine
Flat-Life is 3D... It just plays like the old-school shooters.

For the third time in the same thread? Dammit, throwing ideas around can be nice sometimes, but honestly you don't have to tell us about every little idea that springs to mind. When you've actually settled on something you want to dedicate your time to, maybe then you should make a thread, but for now this might as well be the shoutbox.

I had the idea a couple of days ago to make a realistic mod for goldsource, but never put any thought into it, so I never posted anything. (isn't it weird how we sometimes we as humans come up with the same ideas simultaneously and independently!)

I have to agree with everyone else though, there's no sense in posting simply the idea... Imho:

1. Think the idea through
2. Decide what will work and what won't
3. Build some REAL content
4. Rebuild/revise it 'till you have something worth looking at
5. Post that!

Fearian, wonderful idea, i think i have an onion laying around, i'll email it to you, and i think that we can throw sharkie in there to be the tinned tomatoes

But on a more serious note, stop spamming random ideas, think for a while, do some basic layout work, I use paint for top down map layout, and i just do basic archetecture first, then advanced things, so think a bit, keep your hands away from your enter button, stop posting threads about mod ideas that will never happen.
