I hate it when people always say, "oh dont expose kids to video games they'll grow up to love violence" and all that. As long as the kid is raised with good morals, they can tell whats a game, and whats not, and why its alright to do wrong things in games, but not ok to do wrong things in real life.
That's what my dad did, and he exposed me to Doom when I was 2, and i noticed i have a lot more morals than some people out there, so that's how I'm going to raise my kids (looking
really far into future
)
Bottom line: violence/language bans (video games, movies or otherwise) for kids are for parents who leave their kid with a babysitter for 18 hours a day, and come back home when hes asleep.
Of course there are exceptions, some parents are just overprotective, while some really dislike violence and language.
