Now I set up my two computers so I can play HL2DM with someone in the next room via a wireless LAN.

I made the connection, but the problem is that it's extremely laggy and jerky. Sometimes when I try to move, I won't be able to move at all. Note that this is only a problem on the computer that is connecting to the server, and not on the computer that's hosting the server.

I searched the Steam forum and also Googled, but I couldn't find a way to solve this problem.

Can you help me please?

make sure the more powerful of the 2 PCs is the one hosting.

Otherwise i don't know what to say. I never trust wireless.

Yeah, I use my new computer as the host. It's far more powerful than the Athlon.

A wired connection is tricky, because the two computers are so far apart (in separate rooms).

You can make long cables too, you know.

I found out that the wireless connection causes the latency to fluctuate wildly.

One second, the ping was 16, and the next, it was 491.

That was the issue with the jerkiness.

Once the latency stabilizes, I was able to play--with myself.
