Core i7-860 is also a good choice.

If you intend to buy an i7, don't do it if you don't have at least 1200 euro to spare.

Other components must be top notch too.

965e is 450euro..

One more thing, if you want to buy i7 920, you could also think about i5 750 (760). Its practicly the same a tag bit better on some parts and a tag bit worser on some, but it costs 100 euro less.

Edit - Further bench mark search shows that i7 920 is much better, but more expencive...

Well the i5 750 is only dual channel, and I got triple channel

and ya the 965e is $1200, to $1300, while the 920 is an little over $300 So I'm just looking for reasonable speed.

Striker;
so its specs are slightly better than the 920 yet its just as expensive so yeah thanks for the input
I'll be getting the 860 :)

(and its .14 GHz faster)

Up at the top, it reveiws some of them

EDIT
Ah wait I knew their was a catch,
it doesn't run with triple channel memory as well.. :(

First game I will be playing is Metro 2033
Check out this in-game screenshot;

I have the 920 and it is great.

Don't waste your money on the 965 or even 940. Intel only makes 1 chip for the 900 series, and they are all the same. The change the bios of the chip to limit its speeds. The 920 is capable of the same performance as the 965+, you just have to know (or more likely find someone) who knows how to reprogram them.

Intel has been doign this for many years. Check out ebay and you can find the modded chips for a fraction of the price as the 965+ (around 300-500USD)

Well, thinking about the i930 the 920 and 930 are almost exactly alike but 930 is a tad faster, and can be overclocked alot more than the 920;

Overclocked Speeds

i7-920 from 2.66GHz to 4.08GHz.

the i7-930, using exactly the same voltages from 2.66GHz to 4.3GHz

Btw the two are exactly the same price :)

I would go for the 870. I think you get the biggest bang for your buck with it.

Performance-wise, there is not a big difference between dual-channel and triple-channel.

Plus, you get to save some more money with a 1156 mobo.
