Hasn't anyone ever thought that the Gluon gun is a noob weapon? It seems that half the time I go on HL:D it's overrun by people using this gun. This weapon requires no skill to use as it is easy to aim and even uses less ammo in MP. Not only this but it's extremely powerful. Now while it is the player using it and deciding to use it, a lot of the blame goes on the mapper. They are the ones that decide if and where to put this weapon and it seems often they put it right in front of our faces. I for one have never and will never put the gluon gun into any of my MP maps and never use it even when available. It just makes me angry when you get on a server and every time you spawn you barely get a chance to acquire a weapon after the glock and crowbar.

How about you play on TRIP FLY. Gluon Gun and Gauss aren't allowed there.

or

Play at my OP4 server. Same rules apply.

If I was to put one in a map I'd put it in a room with a combination lock that only I know the code to. If anyone else got it off my corpse I could put in another code that activates a weaponstrip across the entire map. Then let's see them try to gluon spam. :P

Actually, that's pretty clever. You only place its MODEL, and then a trigger_multiple on it that activates a mapwide weaponstrip. There. Everyone will go get whoever goes for it :)

I freaking love tjb's idea.

That is all.

But what if they spectated you and saw you input the code, or someone watching you put it in?

What you do is very simple!

Step 1: Make a large environment.
Make sure it has a few secret areas.

Step 2: Use a code that you make yourself.
Also, make a wall with thirty butttons and only 1 works and the others kill you.

Step 3: In that room, put a real gluon-gun with unlimited ammo.

Step 4: Put all the fake gluons around and have the weaponstrips happen and a few explosions. Make at least seven fake-gluons.

Step 5: In the secret room, make a button that gives you quad mode.

Then, have fun. It's smooth sailing from there! (You may want to add godmode as well)

How do you place only the model of the gluon gun in the map?

I just put the Gluon Gun in a pool of poison that you have to dive into from 50 feet in the air and get out before you die, even at full health and armor.

The gun is not really that overpowered, it's just to do with where you put it. For example, if you put it in some random easy to reach corridor to let anyone take it constantly, then yes, it will be over powered, but If lets say you make a map with a large room in the middle, and small tunnels going around it, and make the room pretty tall, at the top you could put the egon on some platform, to which you would have to complete like a series of box jumps or ladder climbs to get to, by which time you could already be dead before you get it. That would be a lot less overpowered since it would be quite hard to get to it.

Also there is the issue of the small ammo usage for it, but why add ammo for this gun into your map? If you don't like one player hoarding this gun and constantly raping everyone cause he has so much ammo, don't add any. I'm pretty sure the standard gun has 20 ammo alone, and that's maybe 2-4 kills?

Nope, never. Not enough to know that at least.

I've only played Quake 4 Singleplayer.

quad damage is where it gives you x200 power. It's often used in conc maps on TFC

EDIT: Cycler can be hit by a crowbar or something, gives off alien blood, and is very very tall.
