I've been getting an object / class error when i load it up. It occurred directly after i selected my steam directory.
I'll get more info on that when i'm home. Along with a screenshot of the error because it happens every time i load the program. Granted it works, but it might be something you'd want to look at anyway.

Aw crap, i should've tested this much better before releasing it. Where the heck is Daubster anyway. I know he's using the HLLP since its original release.

Oh well, Ill get it working, whatever it takes, dammit! :D

Hmmm. Hold one while i check something...

Edit: well it turned out to be something random, it seems to have fixed itself. But thanks to Tetsu0, i found an issue regarding a closed registry key error. Ill fix that tomorrow. Users can use the Check for new version button to automatically download the new build.

Still waiting for JeffMOD...

For now: mapping!
Posted 15 years ago2009-07-08 19:06:31 UTC Post #269719
I'll get a pic of my error ASAP.
EDIT: Tetsu0, I get that first error too, but only when I accidentally open it twice.
EDIT2:
User posted image
Only happens when I try to load a map, I've tried all kinds of mods.

Is there a liblist.gam file in the ts directory?
And how did you launched it (i don't see an item selected)?
Posted 15 years ago2009-07-08 19:38:34 UTC Post #269724
Yeah.
game "The Specialists"
url_info "http://www.specialistsmod.net"
url_dl "http://www.specialistsmod.net"
version "2.1"
size ""
svonly "0"
cldll "cl_dlls\client.dll"
hlversion "1110"
type "multiplayer_only"
nomodels "0"
mpentity "info_player_deathmatch"
gamedll "dlls\mp.dll"
gamedll_linux "dlls/ts_i386.so"
I double clicked it, and when the popup comes up, the 'selection grey' shadow disapears until the popup is closed.

Too weird.
I got to go now. Get your Steam working so we can fix this once and for all. :)

Yeah, I dunno what's causing it, but maybe the next release will fix it.
Also;

I installed TS just to try to duplicate the error, but it launched a map just fine on my end, from the UI and from the tray contextmenu.

Im baffled.

I've fixed a few issues found by Tetsu0 and the new build is up. Unfortunately, the Check for new version button will not work because i've decided to increase the version number from 1.0.3 to 1.0.31. The next version will be 1.0.32 and the update button will work with that.
Get the new build from the first post and overwrite the previous files.

DO NOT RUN THE APPLICATION FROM ITS ARCHIVE! Extract the files first, then run it.
Posted 15 years ago2009-07-09 17:37:15 UTC Post #269816
Works fine now :D
But a few minor bugs that can wait;
Developer mode seems to be on even when it's unchecked
Maxplayers seems to be 1 even with deathmatch mode on, I may have not done something right
When I launched TS it told me the server had cheats enabled, this may be because of developer mode, however.
Thanks for the update so fast.

Version 1.0.32 is out. Click the Check for new version button to get it.

As for the issues you posted, Ill look into it. But remember that if sv_cheats, deathmatch mode or whatever was enabled before even using HLLP, the mod will still launch with that, despite having the checkbox unchecked.

To fix, disable cheats and whatever manually by typing it in in the console.

Like I said before, great stuff so far. Just bring back them hotkeys by tomorrow. :crowbar:

Version 1.0.33 is here.

Im affraid i screwed up something in version 32 that makes the application say there's no new version available when you click the check for new version button. Yet there is a new version.

Sorry. Its very easy to overlook something. I have to try harder next time to make sure its working.

Get the new build manually from the first post.

Hey i just thought of a cool idea..
Would it be possible to implement a history, or a recent maps section of sorts?
Like instead of browing through all those valve maps just to get to the one i want. If i browse there once, it'll go to my recents, so i can just go there and click it.

Maybe have a max of about 8 maps there?
It just seems like a little user-friendly thing that could help immensly when developing and running the same map(s) over and over.
Btw the search is amazing.

Good points, good idea.
But im going to take a short break from programming and do some mapping. Maybe when the current compo is over ill start adding that to HLLP.
Posted 15 years ago2009-07-10 10:50:32 UTC Post #269852
:) sounds good. I really need to kick my mapping into overdrive if i want to finish this map in time... and have it look decent.

Found a critical bug and went fixing it.
Version 1.0.34 is now here. Either use the Check for new version button to automatically retrieve the update or simply download and overwrite the old version with the new one. Settings file is compatible with 34.

Version 1.0.35 is now here.
Users of previous versiond should download the program manually, do not use the Check for new version button, as the code is not compatible with the previous method.

A question, i want to distribute my mod, and I'll need a launcher of some sort for the setup, would i be able to use this for that purpose, or would i just have to create my own?

It would be somewhat awkward if someone was to use the shortcut only to be greeted by a UI where they have to set everything manually, which seems to be the case.

Posted 14 years ago2010-10-10 08:09:35 UTC Post #286255
No, that won't work. HLLP is mainly just a front end for launching any map for any game/mod from the systemtray.

You'll have to come up with your own.

Do you really need an installer for your mod? A simple zip/rar file won't do for you? I hate mods that come with installers as they leave behind al kinds of crap like temporary files, possible registry keys and whatnot.
I prefer to install a mod manually, by simply extracting the mod folder to the correct location.
Posted 14 years ago2010-10-10 17:20:19 UTC Post #286264
Crollo, if you create your own mod, you CAN skip the plain HL UI.

Just have the desktop shortcut target "hl.exe -game crollosmod" (assuming your mod folder is called "crollosmod"). No extra effort required.
Posted 14 years ago2010-10-10 18:19:10 UTC Post #286265
Yeah no you can't create custom shortcuts using a installer, i need a executable to run that commandline.

Use a ZIP. Make it self-extracting if you really feel you need an exe.

What exactly does "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Mean?

It says that every time I try to point the launch pad to the my steam username folder.
Posted 13 years ago2011-03-29 20:53:57 UTC Post #292673
In a nutshell it means that something, an object for instance could not be accessed or could not be found.

Are you using the latest version?
Posted 13 years ago2011-03-29 21:03:57 UTC Post #292674
Well we fixed it over steam, but for the sake of the thread, I didn't have liblist.gam in the Valve directory for Half-Life.
Posted 13 years ago2011-03-29 21:22:24 UTC Post #292675
I've already updated the first post with information about the error. :)

Version 1.0.0.50 is here!

I recommend a clean directory, don't install this in any existing installations of HLLP.

Version 1.0.0.51 is here!

Fixed HLLP not being able to access the registry if UAC is on. I gave the application full access, so you may get the UAC dialog at startup when it's trying to access the registry.
