The Catholic things reminds me of Rumspringa, an Amish tradition where teens choose the Amish church or mainstream in society. Most turn to drugs, like heroin. Lots of it. Kinda funny actually :)

They also live in comparatively underdeveloped and culturally backwards areas though. If only they had the moneys to fly those participants to 'nice' places to live. I bet not as many of them would be druggies. :P

Thats the religion I was thinking. Yea I saw a documentary on them. It was interesting to see them living out in a trailor house because they had been shunned completely from their family just because they chose to not return.
