Hello, I need a way to export models from Maya 2013 x64 to be useable in CS:GO. I found this plugin:

http://puppet-master.net/?page_id=259

But the guy is so bad at describing how to install the plugin, that I have no idea how to do it. There isn't any video tutorial either.

No, that's the crappy description that makes no sense, even when doing pretty much all the things he lists, it doesn't work properly.

Transfer the Maya assets to Max via an intermediary format (Collada, Obj etc.) & export from there? You should have access to the free student suites from Autodesk as a UK student.

Yeah I could do that, does Max have good plugins for smd conversion then? And can I convert from maya to max without losing uv, smoothing, and texture data?

They're both autodesk products I would HOPE all that would translate smoothly. From what I remember the SMD plugin for MAX works nicely.
I've only created a few models but they worked!

COLLADA or any other modern generic format should work fine. Both Maya and Max have official parsers. OBJ is nice as well from what I hear.

SMD exporter plugin for Max, unfortunately is now very outdated.

It is very troublesome to export models from Maya to the Source engine.
So, I think it would be better to export it to 3DS Max first then use Wallworm model tools (a new 3DS Max script) to export it to the Source Engine,

You can access WWMT from here, dev.wallworm.com
It is very easy to use, also has many written and video tutorials.
