Haha, that's awesome. How did you convert the TWHL Planet map to a Minecraft world? With some kind of converter?
Posted 11 years ago2013-07-20 23:30:47 UTC Post #314312
A lot changed in the terrain gen.

Would it kill you to know that I painted it by hand?
That being said, I made it where south is hot and north is cold. Keep that in mind if you're looking for things.

Uh, ok. Still don't know how you did it but whatever, i will install the world later, it's very late over here.

Oh... The map I gave you is in creative mode. An op will need to set /defaultgamemode 0.

You pre-built the claimed lands? No fairy.

I can't wait to come around and claim my Kingdom.

I just made that overlay to show how it compared. When I get on the server, I'm just going to play minecraft.

The pre-flattened areas are for megabuilds, redstone humping, or whatever else requires a large amount of space. First come first serve basically.

The spawn is the flat land in the middle of the map between the two major land masses. There are about 3 or 4 groups of horses. Don't kill them all like a dick. Horses are amazing for traveling the lands, which we will need to make roads to help with that.

I can't help but wonder if there is an app to which you feed a height map and it generates the corresponding Minecraft world and gives you a save file. Could be an interesting app to develop if it doesn't exist, and it probably wouldn't be too hard.

I'm pretty sure there are apps out there that do exactly that, check the MC forums. :)

Now this map does not have villages, desert temples, jungle temples and the like right? The whole world is in a plains biome?

I would assume that stuff falls under "It has trees and stuff, they don't show up in the editor because the game needs to populate it."

No, villages, temples, ruins and such only have a chance to spawn when you generate (explore) brand new chunks. The chunks in this world have already been generated.

yep. none of that stuff. we'll have to build our own.
I used Worldpainter. Its an awesome map editor for minecraft.

I made this in photoshop using a variety of brushes and layers.

It resembles what a height map of a game-generate map would be like. I added stuff afterwards.

Cool. What about underground features, does it have dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, ravines, ore distribution?
Posted 11 years ago2013-07-21 12:38:46 UTC Post #314328
But how are we going to find saddles?
And I'm still confused about biomes. If it's only one biome, that is going to suck a bit :.

It has biomes. In fact, I did a ton of work to make the south hot and the north cold... and everything in between.

I take it saddles are not craftable and must be found? Fucking hell Mojang :<

But they spawn in dungeon chest. Are there dungeons?

That's what OPs were built for!

Thanks for all the work you've put in for this, Rimmy!

Curious: Is it scaled at all from the height map? Or is this part of the map 1024x1024?

Ok. I've temporary taken the items out of the chests so that no one can take any before I start to work on this. I took screenshots of it so I know exactly how the contents of the chests were layed out.

I have yet to do the enchantment chest though. If you can and want, you can fill the chest with items.
