I love classic minecraft and TWHL server, which is so far the best server of where I have tried to play. Now I started to play minecraft with Tekkit mod pack and I always think of how much it would be awesome to play it with a great community of TWHL. I made working client for non-premium users. https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B_jsQo-PFXxxNlA4czMzdkNhUUE&export=download
Just extract files into %appdata% folder and make a shortcut on desktop of minecraft.exe file which is in .minecraft folder. Type any name and press play offline (You can play online). I have no hardware to run the server and I am willing that someone out here will make it. Also I am pretty sure that you won't be able to stop playing this after you try . :P Server files can be found here: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit-lite Maybe you'll think that it's a bad idea, because there is already one server of TWHL community but i think it's worth a try because this mod offers absolutely different experience of minecraft compared to the classic one.

A Tekkit server is great. It contains mods, that are otherwise incompatible. It is a great idea, but somebody will need to run a server.

I searched for Cracked Tekkit servers (me no buy minecraft:( ) but I found nothing. Why does nobody swithes their 'online-mode' parameter to 0?

Tekkit is neat and all but I find there is too much stuff. So many different additions from all the different mods that I feel overwhelmed and lose interest.

To be honest, same with me. I just get lost in the world of Tekkit. So I usually play MC with only a couple of mods. Now I only play with Ic2 and ComputerCraft. Even now I need to have a copy of Ic2's recipe on my desktop :)

The thing with Tekkit or Feed The Beast is that it's incredibly overwhelming for players that never played any of the modpacks before, me included. The learning curve is just way too high.
So I don't think it's feasible to install any of those modpacks on the server.

That does not mean we should never look at mods, as there's always room to install maybe one or two mods on the server, as long as it's not a modpack.

My latest incursion to the world of mods was RedPower + Computercraft + Railcraft. Sadly RedPower was abandoned, but I think having CC or maybe CC+RC would be real neat. They probably need a bigger server, though.
