Hello! I am new to this community and my question is pretty much as the title of this topic says.
Mapping for Half Life 1 was my first foray into level design and they were very fun days, although I never did post/publish any of the dozens of maps I made
Recently my interest for going back to the good old days of easy and fun custom level making has been rekindled and so I have dug Half Life 1 out and downloaded the Hammer Editor for a trip back into the nostalgia of Black Mesa and relaxed level design creativity. I am sure many of you here know what I am talking about, but obviously the focus now for most Half Life map makers is the Source engine and the newer Half Life games.
I never really managed to get into custom map making for Half Life 2 because the complex settings of City 17 never really struck a cord with my creativity, and mapping anything good was a complex process that eventually drained my enthusiasm.
Are Half Life 1 creations still relevant for communities like these, or has the focus shifted too far toward the newer technology? Either way, I am going to dive into making Half Life 1 custom maps yet again for Black Mesa, but this time I would like to publish a little of what I have made!
