I started working in Source engine and I'm making a CS:S map. I added a sound of APC idle and all is right but when I play it in game the sound doen't exist, is silence. The start silent checkbox is desactivated and checkbox is NOT looped is activated. What could be happening and why it doesn't work?
Here you can see all is correct. Here you can see all is correct.

I think you may need to add nodes to delineate the area where the sound is audible.

I don't remember exactly how to do this, since I haven't mapped for ten years.

you don't need to add nodes, uncheck "is not looped", and increase the max audible distance to something like 1024.

apc_engine_idle is supposed to be a looped sound. You need to uncheck "is not looped". Whats happening is you're going into the game and the sound is playing once or not at all because idle sounds are used for looping.

I'm having the exact same problem with GoldSource. Loop is checked. Nada, no sound whatsoever.

make sure "start silent" isn't checked and that the sound actually has cue points so it can loop.
if it doesn't, use something like goldwave to insert cue points at the start and end.
