As you know I normally don't venture into the Stuff Forum....
But this time I did because I recieved several messages from concerned TWHL members. (8 different members)
I deleted the posts that contained inappropriate content.

Moderators decision is final!

And I laughed when 6th Monkey came up with this well phrased and intellectual quote:

It was almost longer than the avitars thread, and now it is dead.

It was about TWHLmix. What did you think it was about? This must be a misunderstanding.

What?
We had 20 participants and the mapping process was on the run all the time.
This thread was probably the biggest co-operation of TWHL members.
At first there was no organization, but we got everything to work fine.

anyhow I'm sure a lot of those requests for deletion were because we disagreed with views on religion not because of the Brattly Lord thing :-/

If people don't return and ask then they probably wouldn't've done the mapping.

Let's keep threads seperate, yeah? All the forums seem to be being filled with the TWHLMix and lizards! Keep them in their own threads, that's what they're for.

Andy said a lot of people said that it should be deleted.

maybe there should be some kind of vote system? where only people like Andy can start a vote, and majority rules, but Andy can still say no in the end, since someone could create a million accounts and use them all to vote for some ridiculous thing.

I think Jahzel, ZL, vassy, and 6th monkey still have them, and I don't think they will get rid of them any time soon.

I am taking a short brake from mapping to work on my novel. I'm just saying that for no reason. maybe I should post that in my journal. am I thinking a-type? whoa, I really have to go to sleep.

@Andy: I think that there should be some kind of recyle bin for deleted posts. So you can restore important things that would be lost otherwise.
The threads are no longer accessible for normal members. Only mods can see them.

hmmm... suppose it's not really my place to say, but deleting a thread just because it got a little arguementative?
It is a Public forum, afterall, and everyone has there own opinion. like Jahzel said, the forum would crumble if you supressed everything that has a wiff of emotion.

as chow said, it is the moderaters job to, well, moderate us. He is here so things don't go way out of hand, and they did. Half the regular members changed their avs to say "proudly liberal", including chow here, as a result of that thread. The I got an Idea thread started to get off topic, and to turn into one of those threads that get out of hand. He stopped it before he got too far.

as for my novel, it is about A man hired to solve a crime, which is a theft at a high security storage facility. He then is pulled into a giant undercover project to, well, that would spoil it, now wouldn't it? He goes after a man, who is a retired FBI agent, that has presumedly done the crime, which was stealing some material very dear to the laberatory that uses the storage facility. No police are involved, and that is why they did hire this man, who was rejected out from the police department for unknown reasons.

sound good?

Simple reason - just look at some of the stuff people post...

"Democracy" on the net does not work - and besides, who cares about that? this place is about mapping not religion or politics

I think Atom should create a separate section of forums for that sort of thing - like the VERC forums..

I couldn't care less about any of your views or opinions!
All I want to see is maps - not arguments that turn into "who can make the thread with the most posts"

If I had my way I'd Drown half of you faster than you can say "got any more cats for the sack?"

Please, just map.

First of all, seventh started the thread, second of all, what's wrong with having off-beat discussions occasionally. If all we ever talked about was hl 24/7 I'd be put off hl and probably never come here.

I partially agree with kol, this is a Half-Life mapping community. But I think the members should be allowed to talk about other things than mapping, in the right place of course.

P.s. Pepper is right, that's why there is an aptly-named 'stuff' forum for general discussion. So in actual fact Seventh did no harm whatsoever in creating the religion, ethics and morals thread. I could created a thread called 'Farming Methods of the Yesturyear' and it will probably turn into a heated debate. Do not be afraid of debate, debate is a skill everyone should learn.
