Exactly. What's the deal with Dells sucking so bad? I just recently purchased one, and it was about 500 dollars cheaper than a comparable one with about .2ghz more speed on it's processor. Whoop de doo. I nabbed myself a 3.2 P4, 120gb Hard drive, 1gb ram, GeForce 5200fx (meh) and a damn fast CDRW, DVD drive, and some applications. Not bad for $1300.
Yet my retarded math teachers can't do the f@#!ing math and find the difference in the costs, and buy the Freaking better computer.
Retards.
They bought the better computer. I own both a Mac and Windows computer, and these days it seems like everyone who talks about Mac computers says something equivalent to, or uses bits of the following phrase: "OMG MAC SUCKS!!!! THEY ARE SLOW AND THEY SUCK BECAUSE THEY HAVE 1GHZ PROCESSORS!! AND THEY COST 2000$$!!!"

Learn about the machine before you post, please, is what I say to anyone who uses that. Their CPU Architecture is designed differently from Windows, enabling them to run almost as fast as todays latest Pentium, at 1 or so GhZ. Apple includes some really nice and functional programs with their Operating Systems, including a full SDK and Code editors, nice accessories, and many popular games are on it, including Dungeon Siege, Blizzard's games, the Unreal series, Rise of Nations, Baldur's Gate, and many other games and Mac-exclusive ones. And, newer Macs such as the E-mac, laptops, and the iMac are around $1,500-$1,700, around the price you'd pay for a decent Windows machine.

And yes, when do Microsoft manufacture PCs?

I don't like Macs because they're too... rounded. Too restricting.

Although they've gone up in my book since I realised that OSX is *nix.

OSX is very nice. In all the time I used it, it never had a system-caused crash, it only froze due to software bugs, mostly on apps I wrote...although Baldur's Gate had a tendency to lag out and die each time I played. A very stable OS. It has cool names, too :P . Panther, Jaguar, and (soon to be) Tiger. Beats 'Longhorn' or 'XP' or '2000 Professional', if you ask me.

Correct.
Does HL run on mac?
No, although they were about 75% done with the port when they cancelled it. You could probably run VirtualPC with Windows on it and run it, although it would probably be laggy.

There is nothing special about dells - they are the same components as any computer. Nothing is built by them except the case.

18, rolling on 19, HL1 came out in 1998, i know this because thats when I bought it and started mapping. I'm afraid we dont have a choice when it comes to staying with HL1, HL1 is being converted into HL2 engine (I think its a great idea).

Learning to map for HL2 is going to be a great experiance, 50 enemies, loads new toys and stuff arg, i cant name all the good points, I think when HL2 comes out it will be time to let HL one step down from the podium and take up a spot in my cuboard next to Blue Shift and Opposing Force, HL1 has had a good run, but its waaay dated now.

I look foward to HL2 comming out, it means a whole new genere of mapping will spawn, people will have to learn how to map for HL2 effectily, so we may have to wait a while for some REALLY good mods to come out.

HL1 is still a classic, its always gonna be a part of me, but its time to let it die, its lived far more than any game should of. HL2 will be its child, there to take over the throne and supply all generation new and old with a bigger better experiance.

i hope cs dies and doesnt get remade on the hl2 engine. that would suck bad. i started playing when i was 8 years old. picked it up again lat year and completed it. i then went about the net looking for stuff to do with it. i found cheats and the conosole, then heard about mapping, then found twhl!
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-13 14:39:15 UTC Post #41065
HL2 intrests me in the physicgun and the graphic. The mapping will be fantastic. But if you can do evrything i seen on trailers i gonna die. Beacuse it will take so long time before it will be released. And it will cost AT LEAST 40.00$. :( :( :( :zonked: :zonked: :zonked:

1: Dell do not suck, my Dell computer is decent. It's fast...well, it was until I started cramming it with a load of crap which I don't need. It's reliable when I don't have a virus. It can take SD models on HL with ease, and only lags on CZ: Deleted Scenes 'cos the maps are so fricking big.

2: Aren't Macs supposed to be really good? I only hate them 'cos they aren't compatible with HL or anything, and I'm crap on them ;)

3: Get back to the age topic.

Yes apples may be good, But I don't really care.
I didn't come to this site to change my whole computer Mkay?
I just came to get some mapping done!
And I hate the apples at my school.
They aren't the 1 ghrz whatever thing you might have. these are the 1killabyte crap computers
Ah, see, you have a reason to hate them. All I meant to imply from my posts was that not all Macs are bad, they're just built and configured differently.

Last post I make here off-topic. I promise.
