BTW im not talking about the special edition xBox that was a very deep green im talking about the origial "standard" xbox, thats very delicatly tinted green.

'Bizarre' is the word.

Anyhoo, if you own an X-Box then you chucked a lot of better-spent money away. In fact, same with any console. No versatility.

don't know what that money type is there, cause I really don't travel overseas from America here.

I bought an X-box on e-bay for $170.
I'm gonna go see what this green tint is about.

maybe they made it that way because of their green X logo that looks like a crack into the ground. maybe it brings it out, and makes it look more, well, cool. There really isn't a better word for it.

I have a GC that I hardly ever use. But it's a nice platinum colour :D
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-27 14:48:08 UTC Post #45542
I thought GC is for little kids, PS2 was for a little older, and XB for the oldest of gamers, reaching 92.

you own a gamecube? and your HAPPY? xbox is alot more powerful and you dont need to be a nerd to make it better (like pc's.)
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-27 17:42:01 UTC Post #45612
Xbox has always been green. The controllers too. They were never made to be black - they're an extremely deep green.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-27 17:45:46 UTC Post #45615
I've got Xbox, Gamecube and PC - and I'm extremely happy. No craptastic graphics from PS2 (I never buy multiplatform ports unless they were made for a higher-spec system first. I'm sick of all the EA-esque made-for-ps2-not-upgraded-to-support-other-systems approach to mainstream gaming.) and all the games I could ever need.

There is only one game anyone could want a PS2 now for and that is San Andreas (which is coming to Xbox and PC mere months after anyway). Aside from all the hyper Sony fanboys who believe everything else sucks cause it's not Japanese, the rest of the gaming population see that there is more to life than repetitive, old-hat, random-battle filled turn-based Japanese RPGs.

I have a PS2, for Half-Life/Decay, GTAIII/Vice City and Final Fantasy X which I rarely play.

I never liked GC because the games are just...ick.

The only reason I would've bought an Xbox would be Halo, but that was before it came to the PC and it isnt even that incredible of a game to buy a whole new console for.

I bought x-box for Halo, and it was worth every penny. oh wait, I guess that expression is only valid where people use pennies ;)

I wont buy an Xbox because i wont support microsoft. i love the gamecube because its got some really chilled out games, i dont want to play games that are all seriouse all the time i wana play games that are fun and have wacky ideas like mario and sonic... oh and dont give me all that "oh the Xbox has more power" shite, because it doesn't matter, incase you never noticed state of the art graphics and special effects dont make for a better game.. they just enhance what good gameplay is already there...

oh and the currency (?) is a great british pound symble... $1.00 (USD) is = to ?0.57p (GBP) (the small "p" is for pence, as apposed to cent)

as for the avator... well you deside what its all about... durrrr!

do you have microsoft word for your computer? if you don't, you have gone too far with your little ban.

why do you not support microsoft?

because Bill Gates has more money than you?

thats why most people do it.

I don't support Microsoft, even though I have Windows XP and Office. Guess how.

bryce_boi - You dont support Microsoft, hm? In other words you're just another dim-witted gamer who follows the crowd and believes Microsoft is evil, yet you own a PC which probably has more Microsoft-made/owned software and hardware on it that you'd like to admit to.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-28 05:39:48 UTC Post #45777
Hey! I hardly think I count as a dim-witted gamer. Some of the things certain bits of MS do I have problems with. Their more popular programs are slackly written and as for Longhorn... but some of it's okay. I'm not anti-Microsoft, just anti-someoftheirsoftware. I like MSFS.

Well it does seem like most people that "hate" Microsoft are just following the crowd and dont really have any reason to hate the company.

Sure they do a bit of monopolizing here and there, but it's all business. If all these haters were in Microsoft's position, they'd all be hypocrites doing the same thing. It's all about money and getting your products out there - which happen to be some pretty damn good products.

i disagree with there programs being good there just leave us with very little option, and there not "good" there "average"... and YES i do use XP and yes i do use MS office, but thats only becouse they dont leave us with much choice because they monopolize the market. if there was anything better out there then i would be using it. especially as far as windows is conserned, i mean the only other real option would be linux and i just dont like it. so it looks like im stuck with windows.

anyway this thread isn't about how much people hate/support microsoft. its about the colour of the Xbox.. :P lol

Sorry but that has to be up there with the top 10 dumbest replies on a forum ever. Basically you say Microsoft software is average - yet you say there is nothing better. And whats funnier is you seem to think there are no other operating systems in the world aside from Windows and Linux!!

And by the way, there are plenty more Office packages too - nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use Microsoft's version. Infact, you cant even get Microsoft Office with Windows anymore unless it's a watered down version of Word XP - you need to buy it seperately or, like you probably did, pirate it. You are the only person who's forcing yourself to use it - dont blame Microsoft for your lack of research into other software packages.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-28 09:46:14 UTC Post #45835
okay.

just because Microsoft is doing well in the buisness world doesn't mean they are bad. They do not own a monopoly, because monopolies are illeagle where I live, here in America. There is still other computer software companies out there. so what if they have a little of everything, that does't mean they are bad. as a consumer, why would you care? you should just worry about getting the best product at the lowest price.

Posted 20 years ago2004-07-28 11:08:58 UTC Post #45874
so just because you think xbox supports a company that monopolized the pc market, you think that its somehow WRONG to own one. that leaves you with 2 choices in the consolem arket, ps2 and gamecube.

ps2: mediocre graphics, cheap console ports and as has already been said, average japanese turn based games.

gc: <see above>

bryce-boi, you have said: "Everything from Microsoft is average or not to good, but there is nothing better (there are many operating systems and even more office packages, like starofice (for free)" And about your avatar... errrr, it looks gay : sorry
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-28 14:04:27 UTC Post #45932
Hey crusader_bin, he is gay. But you don't have to be nasty to him about it. It's his choice.

Back on topic: Who needs micrsoft anyway? I get on fine with Linux, OpenOffice, Mozilla and some windows emulators for windows apps.
m0p m0pIllogical.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-29 09:56:48 UTC Post #46339
emulators.... SEEE!... thats why i use windows and the same reason i use ms office... its all a compatability issue... open office scares me...lol... so does linux... as for other operating systems... well name me a good one and ill try it but im douting its better than XP even though XP isn't exacly brilliant.

PS: BTW..... the whole gay thing was established months ago, its not an issue. besides this is a mapping community not a bitch about eachothers sexuality community. nuf said!

Longhorn looks like it might actally be decent... they just ditched the red GUI and they are using a blue one now that just looks like an update of the default windows one... as for the features and how it runs... well who can say at this stage :S

Longhorn is absoloute crap! My friend (who knows microsoft insiders) gave me a copy of it and I tried it. This is quite a recent version too. It is very buggy, unstable and lots of other things which make it crap. IE looks like it is getting an improvement though.

No offence to anybody who ones one, but XBOX sucks. here are the specs of a head2head article from a magazine called Maximum PC (2002)

XBOX

Processor:Pentium 3 733MHz

Memory: 64MB DDR 200MHz

Storage: 5x DVD-ROM drive + 8GB hardrive

Graphics chipset: nVidia NV2x

PC

Processor: AMD Athlon 1.5GHz

Memory: 512MB PC100 DDR

Storage: 80GB hard drive

Graphics chipset: GeForce3 Ti 500

That was back in 2002, since then PC specs have jumped ahead hugely
Processor speed have more than doubled memory has gone up to 8x as much. Pretty pitifull huh?
