Hate to dissapoint you,
but there will be no hl dm when hl2 comes out only cs source found this out yesterday quite disturbing actually since thats all i play. So death to the damn cs that took over hl damn ,damn,damn
Well looks like I'm gonna start to map for unreal! apparently
dm wont come out for atleast a year after hl2 release

Err, this was announced AGES ago. CS:S was always intended to ship with Half-Life 2. Frankly I couldn't give a crap, MP mapping is sad in my opinion. SP gives so much more than any MP map could do...

That's lame! Now there is no point to me buying hl2, I just wasted my money sure ill like the sp for what the first two weeks then when its done thats it. and cs is boring and wastes my time soi doubt i will buy hl2 now, oh well maybe some other company wont #$%^ up so much as valve has in the past year !!!!! ANd they
will think about everyone not just one faction of the gamers what are out there

big big dissapointment the only reason i map is for mp,what is the point in making a map that only your eyes will see .
it's supposed to be a bout the experience and seein peeps enjoy your map together withu.much more satisfaction is obtained from mp then just from making sp maps :x

I dont care, I don't like HLDM at all. CS is so much better for multi-player, mostly now that there is going to be huge cities and crap to play around it.

Great, but they are only porting the HL2 wepaons. No custom weapons to choose from. That would be nice feature. Oh, well.. One thing at a time I suppose.

mp mapping isn't nub, if any thing its harder especily when u try to work out the basic lay out- because if u have to think bout the map from different angles ie where all the players spawns are all the possible routes and places to go-

where as sp can be very linier-

I played CS a couple years ago and it really sucked. And that was before there were lots of other "tactical" game out there. I watched a friends son play it only a few months ago (He's addicted, poor little blighter) and it looks just as exciting to me as it did all those years ago.

Then again, soem friends and I loaded Crossfire up after playing UT and such for several years, and it was just like old times. Non-stop frag action and I couldn't believe how much fun those weapons were again.

Oh, back on topic. At least there is a mod team already gearing up to do it, and that is if Valve doesn't already have a team signed up and doing now.

I think that is so un-half-life to have a cs only multiplayer. We could have had new versions of the classic hl dm maps and more converted to a hl2 style, but no, VALVe made even more fck-ups. Stupid prcks. Can't they see that CS players and HLDM players are TOTALLY different! :badass:

well I've started mapping with unreal ,and there are 12 guys with 4 servers switching over to unreal as well .We will still play hl1 and map, but our focuses now are no longer onhl2 but on the unreal3 engine(sad to hear is valve want to be &*^%% then let them)
mapping in unreal is opposite of hl insteading of making blocks in a space, u carve in to one bigblock so u will never have a leak. It's very cool and the maps take like a min to compile

i know this may be an older thread, but i know why they arent having HLDM. Its just my idea but:

Because there is gonna be a Source original Half-Life, theyll expect you to use that for your HLDM needs. Eh? ehh?

When HL2 was announced over a year ago, they said that Multiplayer would be a few months behind Singleplayer. I don't know why that would change. They said that the physics engine for the game would overwhelm today's internet connections and they needed to decide where and how to water it down. They need to support 32 (or more) players in one server with a map 64 times larger than today's maps and get that intensified information to all those computers.
