I have a Labtec microphone, It works great and I mainly use it too play The Battle-Grounds. But now that I switched computers somthings wrong. It works fine until I get into a game on steam. Not when I get into steam.

And I don't want this to turn out to be a anti-steam vs. steam-lover
Argument.

Does it work with Windows? I had a similar headset problem. I could hear the in-game chat and the sounds, but my weapon SHOTS were far away, but the weapon CASINGS were right next to me. And nobody could hear me when I talked in-game. Microphone setup worked perfect (go figure). Ended up being the headset itself. I decided that was the problem when I couldn't hear my mp3s in complete stereo. The game was where it always showed itself, though.

DirectX 9.0b for me. I don't know about sound drivers. My dad usaully maintains this PC.

BTW, I'm having problems with my PC back in my room, I usually use it to map for HL1 and photo-editing 'n stuff. I decided to hook up my PC to my PC, with 150 watts of pure sound power. I think that might've strained my power-supply altough it didn't happent until I toggled on UDMA for my PC with a XP tweaking program called X-Stetup.

The problem is that now that I try to login, it say; "loadin your settings" and then I hear the hardrive activity noise and then it reboots. I've tryed booting with Safe Mode and Last known good conguration and it still won't work.

Please help! :(

Thats odd.

How loud is that HD activity noise? Louder or harsher noises can sometimes indicate a virus infection - If it's really loud and annoying, you may just have a lovely virus on your hands.

If you have the installation CD for the OS, try booting directly from that.

OMG, someone help, I uninstalled windows and I can't get it back on. I reformat my hard drives, and it says; "Creating list of files to be copied" and then copies them. The PC reboots (routine) and then goes right back to the begining again! Help! :zonked:

Well, I'd suggest doing what, ahem, certain others with legally-dubious XP discs do, which is install a legit copy of Windows 9x and then upgrade over.
