I don't know about you, but most of the time I like steam, constant updates, news, etc etc etc .
However the other day my phone line was disconnected temporarily and I couldn't access a damn thing through steam. It said there was no login information on my computer, so I couldn't even access the offline mode.
This is annoying because I registered a Valve product I already owned on CD and it wouldn't even let me play that.
I only mention this because I believe if you purchase something you should be able to use it all the time, connection or no connection.
Let me know what you think. (or is it my lack of knowledge that is the problem)
Cheers
Tragic :o :zonked: :x

Again, your just telling us a story with your thoughts.

I agree, this is annoying.

What do you mean by again?
And was that "you suck" in the shoutBOX directed at me IMEC?
If so why?
And if it was give me a break I was only mentioning this in case there was a way around it.

Back up your ClientRegistry.blob when you're signed in and restore it from the copy if you can't use offline mode. That should work.

If you read the T&C, VALVe are in no way obligated to provide you with the games you've paid for. You'll just have to hope they continue to see it as a good idea.

No problem. Works for me, at least.

On a similar note, does anyone know if Steam can be forced to start in offline mode so I can sign in to two local PCs for some LANing?

OMG thats a great idea seventh!

Just turn off you internet on both of your PCs. THen try to sign onto steam. It should work.

But remeber, the login information has to be saved. ;)

Obviously that'd work, but I cannot 'turn the Internet off'. That'd mean disabling/messing up the network adapter, which'd render the whole thing a little pointless, wouldn't it now?

Just detach the main input from the internet into the rouer or hub or whatever you use.
