Is it really what it looks like? :| ...

If you follow the recruitment links, you end up on true military sites.

Heh, that'd be harsh: joining the navy whilst thinking you're joining a CS clan :D.

So, what's your opinion about that?

[_] is this a real recruitment area, disguised into a cheap fake CS gaming website ?

[_] is this a CS team website designed by an US army fan ?

[_] is this a fake/hoax, faking both CS and the US army ?...

What about:

[_] a CS clan of keen U.S.A. Navy members

They wouldn't made pages of "clic here to join the army" and "Navy Height & Weight Chart Female", they would rather made pages of "look at us, we are in the army, we are men now! we know what's the war now! we are da l33t RoX0rz Pr0f32210nal crew!!1" in my opinion, that's why this site looks really really strange to me, almost worrying, and as my english is not perfect, that I don't perfectly get what the pages mean, I thought about ask for your opinions :| ...

...thinly disguised Navy recruiting site.

Anyone who ends up joining the Navy from that site deserves to be shot because of their stupidity.

Wow guys, you can be so bad sometimes...

I like it :) ...

Last question : Is it the first website of this kind you see, or am I just discovering something that is very popular/used for years?

And... Is this really legal?...

Well, howdy. I own the NavyCS website. To clear some things up for ya'll because I know the questions are burning in your head :)

I am currently a Master Chief in the US Navy. I have served for nearly 26 years and I have 2 sons also serving. The website started 2 years ago - I started it as a proto-type recruiting site, Navy Recruiting Command choose not to utilize the idea. Because I enjoy the game so much and I know the Navy I choose to stay with it. I do not "recruit" from the site but do get emails almost everyday of people asking me about my experiences - a lot of people have joined. The website is not a trap. I have talked a nimber of people out of joining also because I didn't feel joining the Navy met their needs.

Now as far as the site itself goes - it is a hobby and it is legal. I am learning, well attempting to learn coding and SEO. Think about it for a second, if this site was sponsored in anyway do you think it would look like that? :) I am having a great time with it - my unique visitors per month is over 7000 and growing every month.

Now truth be told the game America's Army IS a recruiting attempt - the US Army spent $8 million dollars the first year and a couple of million every year since to keep the game going.

And lastly, the map de_raid is very well done and people on the server seem to enjoy it. I have it available for download in my map download section, I get a ton of people to the section, use MSN search and search "counterstrike maps" and you should find me near the top.

If linking to my site is against some moral beliefs you harbour then that is fine, one link for SEO from a non-ranked site ain't going to matter when I have about 600 already. I will keep doing my hobby!

Thank you - website suggestions and critiques are always welcome.

I have been able to see most of the world. I have been to every country in Europe and North Africa and been thru the Suez Canal.

I have used this site many times - I have dabbled in map making :)

Master Chief is the rank, the paygrade is E-9. I do not have MSN but do have AIM - I am rarely on it, can't stand IM :)

Indeed my knowledgable friend..it was a decisive navy battle in the Greek struggle for independance from the Ottoman empire, fought in 1827 in the Bay of Navarino off Pylos in the Peloponnese, in which Britain, Russia and France sent a combined fleet which destroyed the Egyptian and Turkish fleet.

(sorry I enjoy war history)

Welcome on this forum,

thanks for clearing these points with us: As I just said, I didn't know what to really think from your site, and wondered if it was a kind of trap for lost young people, with no real objectives in their lives (something like "you don't know what to do in life? Join the army!!", and the boy signs up and joins the army, and is sent to some war areas, with no real trainings, and got killed for nothing...), I am glad to realize my fears were wrong :) ...
I have been able to see most of the world. I have been to every country in Europe and North Africa and been thru the Suez Canal.
Wow nice! :)
I do not "recruit" from the site but do get emails almost everyday of people asking me about my experiences
Won't don't you "simply" write and upload a kind of album, with stories, photos, maps etc from your experiences, instead of answering again and again to posts on the forums and to emails? It would be more efficient, and save you an incredible ammount of time :| ...

I am a Navy Counselor by trade in the Navy. The time I spend communicating my adventures is fun to me. I also don't want to become a site for which you first thought - I want to ensure each person who wants the information understands the information. If I post pictures of me on a beach in Spain with 40 miles of women this only depicts one side, I really want people to gain information as it pertains to them individually - I haven't figured out how to code this feature yet so until I do I will continue. The Navy has a lot to offer but it is only what you put into it. Oh and it is the NAVY not the ARMY! :)

What rank is Master Chief? BTW, do you have MSN ;)
DON'T GIVE YOUR ADRESS TO HIM, EVEN IF YOU SOMETIMES GET IT.
He can be really iritating, he spams even for MSN. He'll spam you with winks and all these stupid stuff. He'll even contact you with all his thousands of MSN accounts.

Coffee that was really annoying, can you please stop doing all these things.

Posted 18 years ago2006-02-14 03:30:25 UTC Post #163140
Tis true he spams, and asks about JIMMI AHHHH ITS CRAZY!

Anyway my father was in the navy a long time ago, and from the stories hes told me he liked being in the navy a lot. Anyway good luck with your site and all.

My site has created a lot of controversy over time - it has been in a few threads wondering what the motives are. Taking a step back I understand why people have concerns I guess but what the heck, its fun! Anyone know how I can get my main page to W3C validate when I am parsing both php and html in a single page?
Posted 18 years ago2006-02-15 14:58:56 UTC Post #163435
Um, it's no different to having a static page valid. Just make sure that anything you push in with PHP is valid where you're putting it.

The problem is the link in the php script, it uses & which is not a valid char. I have a picture on my index page which is random from my gallery. www.navycs.com
